According to Davey, the Espinosa bunt was called from the dugout.

It was because no one in the universe was confident that he wuld get a hit.

Maybe it's just me, but this game didn't have a playoff like feel to it. Just felt like another game, another series

Between Worth, Harper and Zimmerman, they went 2 for 15, no walks, 7K's no runs and no RBI.

And we still won.

Look out St. Louis, the best of the Nats have yet to come.

Johnson had nothing to do with the win. In fact, he wanted Cahd up instead of Tyler and only switchd because the Cards brought in a lefty.  He lucked out.

Actually Davey had a lot to do with that.  He forced Matheney to go to his pen for a lesser pitcher figuring the Rook would be less likely to beat him than the vet Tracey.  It's all part of the chess match.  Davey's chess pieces won today.  He gets as much credit for putting the right players in that situation to come through as the player does.  That's how it works.

Seriously?  That was much more stressful than any game I watched during the regular season.

Drew Storen needs to grow a long beard.  It seems like all the best closers have epic beards now.

Did anyone else notice the umpire that called Holliday out in the 9th? None other than Marvin Hudson

Is Hudson from the Berkman game?

From the Post:

Quote
Manager Davey Johnson was ejected once all season. It came on Sept. 15 in Atlanta, when Marvin Hudson ruled Adam LaRoche’s foot had come off first base on a throw. Replays showed it had not, and after Johnson implored Hudson to ask for assistance on the call, Hudson threw him out. Jason Heyward, the next batter, hit a game-altering, two-run homer.

Born and raised, and he still lives there.
