Don't know what to think about guys like Slaughter, Cap Anson, and Cobb. Actually, I know what to think about Cobb and Anson. Ken Burns I think really painted Slaughter negatively, but the major theme in a lot of Burns's work is America's way of addressing race.

That's to be expected, since the teams with the best records are the away teams in the first 2 games of each series

If it helps paint Enos in a better light, my roommate's Grandpa coached Babe Ruth little league. Before every season he would bring cases and cases of balls to Enos who would sign a ball for every young player in the local area. My ball is a left over from one of these sessions.

Yes, I'm inclined to say most of the bad stuff was more lack of awareness and just having contemporary attitudes. People can be good in parts of their lives but have blind spots. Not every one is Pee Wee Reese.
