I'm really happy that we won this game without really trying.
Using mostly just our bench and bullpen against about 1/2 or more of Philly's Starters. OK so they used a first time rookie for their starting pitcher and a few of their Sept. Callups since they are out of things, but still as you said we weren't "really" trying.

Now personally I don't care whether we get the top seed or not, but it's a little weird for Davey to put a player's accomplishments ahead of that...

I don't really care if we are #1 seed or not, well OK I'd probably prefer being the #2 and start vs San Fran. The thing I really want is us to win this final game:
1) To win the series with Phillie
2) To finish the final game of the season with a :w:
3) To keep a  Curly :w: winning streak going into the playoffs and not stopping until there are no more games to play for anyone.

I think of last night's Fillies lineup as their hope-to-be regulars in 2013.

Check the age of their regular regulars:

- Utley is 33
- Ruiz is 33
- Howard is 32
- Rollins is 33
- Mayberry is 28
- Pierre is 34
- Frandsen is 30
- Kratz is 32
- Wigginton is 34

- * Dominic Brown is 24
- *Ruf is 25

Among their pitchers:

- Cole Hamels is 28
- Cliff Lee is 33
- Roy Halladay is 35
- Joe Blanton is 31

- * Kyle Kendrick is 27

The Phillies have gotten old all at once. Mayberry, Brown, and Ruf should be their OF next year, but I don't see a catcher, an infield, or young pitchers.

since the discussion is trending away from yesterday's game, it is probably time to lock this.
