Or instead of stewing, we can rest our weary muscles!  Did you all expect ys to continue to hit 6 hrs a night from now until the end of the year?  Really?

Worst weekend of my life.  Baseball was no comfort.

Crazy. 5.5 game lead, we were all disappointed after last weekend vs Miami. Then we sweep the Mets while the Braves get whipped by a hot Milwaukee team. Then the Braves erase that entire 3 day stretch by sweeping us and getting those 3 games right back.

The Nats just need to avoid prolonged losing streaks or a 1-5 week or something like that. That's how you lose the division. If we play solid baseball the Braves will still have to almost be perfect to pass us.

Nats have 16 left, Braves have 15 left.

  • If Nats go 10-6, Braves would have to go 15-0 to tie the Nats with 99 wins and force a 1 game playoff for the division.
  • If Nats go 8-8, Braves would have to go 13-2 to tie the Nats with 97 wins and force a 1 game playoff for the division.
  • If Nats go 6-10, Braves would have to go 11-4 to tie the Nats with 95 wins and force a 1 game playoff for the division.

The first two games of this series could/should have been won by us.  An error by Desmond lost the first one, a very bad call by an umpire influenced the second and the third game was just ugly after Zimm's error.  Our pitching wasn't crisp, our hitting sort of disappeared and our defense, usually our strong suit....wasn't.  Hopefully we'll come home and get back to this year's winning ways.

Danny Espinosa going for an MRI tomorrow on aching left shoulder. Will miss at least Dodgers series, Davey says. Explains bad slump.

Ugh oh god. All the ingredients for a late season collapse are brewing. We must fight back this week.

This team sure isn't playing with any urgency when it comes to winning this division. Also don't like the confidence sweeping us could give the Braves if we have to play them in the postseason. Add the Redskins loss in today and I've got all the ingredients for an awful sports weekend.

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Friday 16th September 2005 at San Diego, Patterson pitches a 5-1 complete-game win...record now 77-71...http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250916125

---

Nats lose, Mystics lose, Skins lose...just a write-off all the way yesterday.

---

Yesterday's result rather reminds me of why I don't like seeing teams I follow being put on national telly (didn't watch yesterday of course)...we always get drawn against some 'royal favourite' team, and we almost always lose.
