.256/.281/.316 is nothing to get excited about.
slight upgrade and, if nothing else, spells flores who looked like he was getting worn down and the price is a prospect who in all likelihood would never start for this team

I predict Suzuki is going to have a big stretch run for the nights. New scenery, new league. He'll be a good frontline catcher.

Good, logical pickup from another team salary dumping.

Again, Suzuki has a 38% caught stealing rate this year. What's Flores'?

10%, he's thrown out 5 in 48 attempts. But most of that falls on the pitchers.

Why is anyone excited about a .218/.250/.286 hitter?

Because Suzuki has a WAR of 2.4/2.5/1.0/1.6/-0.6 the past 5 years.

He's clearly in a down year but plays in a pitchers park and is a better player than Flores.  With Ramos out, it's a good move for the stretch run IMO.

Has a history with one of the starters. Nothing could be worse than to pick up a guy that pitchers don't like. Look at the mess with the Giants.

Not close to that good. You gotta wonder how much of that is due to pitcher's delivery.

Rizz and Billy have quite the bromance going on.

Funny, we traded the A's the guy (Norris) who at least partially cost Suzuki his job.

I was thinking it was more of Kattares, but you could be right.

Is it possible to have a bad history with Gio?

So I'd say good.

Davey says he'll bring the veterans presents, or something.

I don't know if this was the right move but I'm glad Rizzo decided to do something.

Zuck is saying Leon will catch tonight and then be sent down to Syracuse. Flo will slide back to the #2 catcher.

I still think Shoppach may have been a better choice... but Suzuki being traded to the Nats tells me that they're not certain about Ramos next year... so they want a backup plan in place.

Freitas was never going to stick at catcher anyways... so I don't mind the trade.

Interesting move. Definitely not a cheap pickup since I assume we're taking his entire contract. Probably $8 million or so for the next year plus? So I agree it's probably a backup plan for Ramos if he's not ready.

I wouldn't mind seeing something close to at two games on, two games off situation at catcher the rest of the way.  Would probably be good for both of them.

That's pretty much my stance. He's an upgrade over Flores, that much is for sure, but he's not likely to supplant Ramos next year that is if Ramos is healthy next season.

I thought rookies were supposed to do that sort of thing?

I agree with jersey and linty about Ramos.

They mentioned last night on tv Wilson had just had his ACL re-constructed earlier that day.

Maybe the news from the docs wasn't great. Otherwise, it's an awfully big coincidence.

Fr what it's worth he hit .273 in July and is hitting .308 over his past 7 games. So maybe he's heating up a little. Definitely an upgrade over Flores I'd say.

I am sure ducking those wild pitches that landed in the dugout will prove to be useful skill. ;)
