TSA processed 1,407,233 travelers yesterday. The most in a year.

Had to re-book another one of my four originally pre-pandemic-booked trips (Bratislava) - originally June but the flight was cancelled so I moved the booking into September.

All these re-bookings may sound tedious, but I'm willing to do it because (1) both the airlines I fly have generous re-booking policies during the pandemic and (2) that's how strongly I believe in travel.

they say Spain is pretty, though I've never been.

You've been to Oklahoma though, right?

My son is urging us to book a trip to Europe over the kid's Christmas / winter break, which is why we were looking at Spain last night. He went on a high school trip from Madrid to Barcelona a few years ago, going through Sevila, Grenada, and a few other places and is anxious to return. January temps are around 50, and it's off-season, so it's a good time to go.  We're also considering going back to Italy to see family and see some areas that we missed last time around.  I've been to Barcelona once for a work-trip, it was peak season and though the city is beautiful, and the architecture stunning, I'd much rather go back off-season.

Flights are terribly expensive though, we ended up finding some options for around $1000 per person. Most airlines will waive change fees, but they won't refund tickets. We'll obviously get trip insurance, but that's a big chunk of change to tie up without being certain that we'll be able to go next year. We're trying to decide if we want to take the gamble and book now.

Just scored a COVID-19 vaccine appointment...in Altoona, Pennsylvania. 178 miles away from Arlington.

Gotta see the Altoona curve, right? What else is good in town.

Yep.  Railroad history.  The Horseshoe Curve is a cool thing to see, as is the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.

Five Guys to add drive-through locations in Britain: https://www.standard.co.uk/business/five-guys-drive-thru-uk-summer-b925097.html

(Hadn't realised that they were already up to 110 locations in Britain. The first one in London opened not all that long ago in the West End, near Leicester Square tube station. Must try it sometime.)

Entertainment venues and opportunities requiring vaccination is what's going to get the anti-vaxxers on board.

If you can't get beaten and mauled between the metal doors at Vine Street, might as well get a cheeboogie

To get to the Five Guys near Leicester Square, use the Cranbourn Street exit from the tube station, look left and you'll see it.

Shake Shack has also arrived in London - there's one at the intersection of Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue.

The rumour of a US-UK safe-travel corridor has once again surfaced (they're saying it might go into effect in June): https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9397505/US-UK-travel-corridor-June-Ministers-talks-American-counterparts.html

For the life of me I can't understand why we don't have a travel ban with Brazil right now.

Some people miss air travel so much they'll do anything: All Nippon Airlines offers first class meals aboard parked planes at $540 a go - it apparently went over quite well - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-9426927/Sky-high-Japan-airline-offers-540-meals-parked-planes.html

[similar to the Finnair item noted previously, in which they sell their meals in supermarkets]

Still?  Haven't flown them since they became Air France's downmarket nag.

Good info  :D

I'm kind of locked into Star Alliance so I don't fly that side of the industry much.  I flew KLM Amsterdam-Athens once and it was a really nice flight but that was back when flying was generally pretty nice.
