Had to re-book another one of my four originally pre-pandemic-booked trips (Bratislava) - originally June but the flight was cancelled so I moved the booking into September.
All these re-bookings may sound tedious, but I'm willing to do it because (1) both the airlines I fly have generous re-booking policies during the pandemic and (2) that's how strongly I believe in travel.
My son is urging us to book a trip to Europe over the kid's Christmas / winter break, which is why we were looking at Spain last night. He went on a high school trip from Madrid to Barcelona a few years ago, going through Sevila, Grenada, and a few other places and is anxious to return. January temps are around 50, and it's off-season, so it's a good time to go. We're also considering going back to Italy to see family and see some areas that we missed last time around. I've been to Barcelona once for a work-trip, it was peak season and though the city is beautiful, and the architecture stunning, I'd much rather go back off-season.
Flights are terribly expensive though, we ended up finding some options for around $1000 per person. Most airlines will waive change fees, but they won't refund tickets. We'll obviously get trip insurance, but that's a big chunk of change to tie up without being certain that we'll be able to go next year. We're trying to decide if we want to take the gamble and book now.
