Durbin > Nats
Has been. Past tense. In fact, I would say it was pitching above itself. Gio stinks in the second half, Strasburg is clearly tired, Jackson is coming back down to earth, and Clippard is showing that relievers have a short lifespan

Congrats Atlanta, the NL East is yours. This team isn't ready for a pennant chase, maybe next year.

Strasburg deserves the loss as much as Clippard.  had a huge lead and couldn't even get through 6.

Lannan/Jackson and a freaked up bullpen? Don't think so.

Really dude?  Flores is just as bad.

Flores can block pitches. Leon was overhanding balls in the dirt. His blocking skills are bad. But there's a lot of blame to go around on this POS.

You said it yourself, there is regression.  The bullpen AND starters have regressed.  The team was never built to win 90 games.  Fans knew this going in.  It has been fun to watch the team over-achieve but honestly there was so much hope and the regression didn't look like it was coming.  Now just as the bats are heating up, the pitching can't hold up.
Starters are still extremely good.  This has been a sort of bad stretch but in the five days before this one we had two scoreless six-inning starts out of Zimm and Stras.  I would expect our top three starters to continue to rank among the best in the game.  The bullpen is much more of a question mark.

Well, Strasburg did pitch awful and allowed the four runs which gave them life.

Clip looks like he's just putting the ball on a tee for the opposition.  He's just lost it.

Solano couldn't block anything either. Leon was supposedly a great defensive catcher in the minors. Didn't see it.

Our ace was handed a NINE RUN lead, and he can't go more than 5 innings.  Bad.

He's no ace.  JZimm is the closest thing we have to an ace at this point.

he's clearly no longer the ace.  neither is Gio.  JZimmerman is the #1 in my book.

Actually Ray, the game was official when it started raining.  A six inning game would have been "getting it in".

This is probably the weirdest position you could take, considering that JZimm is due for a lot more regression than the other two.

They have to come back tomorrow and play two games with Jackson who has struggled some lately and Lannan who will probably be nervous plus a bullpen that looks anything but sharp.

We'll be lucky to split this series.

Learning experience, I guess. Let's see how this team responds.

One of the toughest losses ever but sorry I'm not ready to give up the season. It's just one loss.

He hasn't even pitched a full healthy season yet in his career. How can he be "due for regression"?

Or maybe he's just a better pitcher than those two at this point.  Strasburg and Gio struggle to get past six.  Zimmermann does it every damn start.
