Great win tonight!  Just tuned in so I don't have the score yet but it's great watching the fans celebrate on their way out.

First thing that came to my mind is those are the folks who go behind the scoreboard on the concourse and do nothing but drink  ...  Yuppieville.

This game could be a blessing in disguise if Detweiler is the starting pitcher Sunday night for us.

No.  If everyone loses then it's not damaging, by definition.

It's a 162 game season, the objective is to win more than the other guy over the course of the entire season.   Please explain how the order in which you win them matters.

Yeah, Dave interviewed him pregame and he said Rizzo was in the middle of a brawl with the Phillies in 1982.  Said Rizzo was a hardnosed player.

Joe Maddon got his first coaching job before turning 30. Crazy

btw I'm surprised that MLB doesn't randomly check player's bats/gloves/hats.  I would think there would be a way to do it in between innings so as to not really slow things up at all.

I doubt they want to find anything

I'm getting pretty tired reading about how losses matter/don't matter based on what other teams do. It might be okay if it wasn't June.

Who said losses don't matter?  Of course they do.  But what matters is how many you win over the course of the full season, period.

Here are two things that would get some of these donk to come back to reality:

- another sweep
- Zimmmm hits the DL
- Harper falls off the ledge
- Wang/Detmaya/Jackson have a couple of bad starts

Davey said it was a "rumor" about the pine tar.

Ankiel. Pudge.

Oh yeah, Pudge lovers always make me laugh. Dude was a dedicated beast but his best years were fueled by the juice.

The team that's in front is only "damaged" if the teams behind them catch them.  The only way to catch them is to win when they lose.  If every one loses, the team in front can not be caught and that's the case from game 2 through game 162.

The objective of the Nationals, therefore, is to win every game or have everyone lose.

I realize it's fun to look at the standings and see progress, or not fun to see regress, but again all that is meaningless during the season.  It's only where they are at the end of the season that matters.  Of course it's the objective to win, and we hope the other teams in our division lose, but syncronizing our wins with their losses or whatever is completely meaningless.

Even if you accept that, what about potential wild card threats?

So the two pitchers that could replace CMW would be Detwiler and Lannan. Is there anyone else who could take the spot? Obviously Detwiler did fantastic today and I hope that's taken into consideration, just wondering what options Davey has here.

I'm just not following Linty. I'm just not following his definition of "cheating". Unless its "eatin' ain't cheatin'" ;)

It's just a platitude that I thoroughly disagree with.

Whoever ratted out peralta held their tongue when he was here

That's a good point. Peralta must do this every outing.

Perhaps Zimmerman could get back to form if he could find his chemist's phone number.  :stir:
