NotGraphs made a GIF of the Gio Gonzalez slide. Also I quoted Chief in my email and they posted it. Chief is famous!?

Nats Classics is on MASN right now, doesn't really hold the same interest when they are playing classic games live almost every day.

From today AP post game report:

Quote
The first-place Nationals had played 13 one-run games, including three in a row, coming into Saturday's game against the depleted Phillies, who are without injured sluggers Ryan Howard and Chase Utley. After falling behind 1-0, Washington used a four-run fifth inning to take control.

Depleted Phillies?

What does that have to do with the description of the current state of the Phillies roster?

What does "depleted Phillies" have to do with the outcome of the game?  This was a post game report not a general state of the Philadelphia Phillies.  And if it has something to do with the outcome of the game then "depleted Nationals" would also have something to do with the outcome of the game and should have also been mentioned.

In other words, mentioning "depleted Phillies" without mentioning "depleted Nationals" comes very close to a rationale for them losing.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 18th win, each season:

2012 - 5th May (27th match of season)
2005 - 9th May (32nd match)
2010 - 10th May (32nd match)
2011 - 11th May (36th match)
2008 - 15th May (42nd match)
2007 - 23rd May (47th match)
2006 - 24th May (47th match)
2009 - 17th June (64th match)

Just curious, so, as Casey suggested, I looked it up. This team is pretty much keeping pace with the 1925 Nats, who won for the 18th time in their 26th game, beating Cleveland 6 - 2 as Walter Johnson, all 37 years of him, won his 5th game. Hitting star was Goose Goslin with 2 RBIs, but we can't overlook Johnson, who went 2-for-4...was then batting .429, and would be used several times as a pinch-hitter that season. Note: the '25 Nats had not had serious injuries, so I'd say that today's team might be ahead of the '25 pennant-winners.

Not that it means anything...yet.

he was drafted by the orioles.

so i guess it's okay for you to hate the players though.  oh, just certain players.

and i could've sworn i have seen you stick up for corey brown/henry rodriguez while say we couldn't have used josh willingham ... or blast adam dunn for no reason.

but hey it's just the past, who cares about it right?

In the end it didn't matter much except for it allowed the only run of the game and Gio's only allowed run at Nats Park this year but still not a good trend.

I missed this game because I went and got hammered and watched the FA cup final, just watched the replay and Gio was great again, he really seems a likeable guy.

Loving Lombo atm, he's locked in!

I'm 3 for 3 for wins in not posting during games.   I won't be posting during the game this evening either.   I may have something goin' on here.
