I would pay money to see Frank Robinson and Mike Scioscia go at it one more time

Wasn't that Willie Harris? Pulled an oblique hitting off a Tee?

Junior Spivey shattered his arm hitting off of a tee

Probably not.  He probably would've argued calls better in his sleep than Acta did wide awake.

Yeah, among other things.  Should've kept frank and fired Bowden, instead they did the opposite.  I wonder how Frank's salary compared to Acta's :stir:

lol, Frank Robinson...  in retrospect, would it have really been the worst thing in the world if the Lerners had let him manage a few more years?

He's a terrible manager when it comes to pitchers. Freely admits that he hates them.

Was he really?  That surprises me.

KANSAS CITY - Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was carted off the field at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday after appearing to suffer a right knee injury shagging fly balls during batting practice.

The Yankees were hitting on the diamond just after 7 p.m. ET as Rivera raced back, reaching up for a fly ball. His right knee buckled near the warning track and he crumpled to the ground near the fence, rubbing his knee immediately in pain.

Teammates and coaches crowded around in concern as Rivera received attention in the outfield. Manager Joe Girardi was among those watching the all-time saves leader be propped onto the back of a flatbed truck and driven around the warning track.

Head athletic trainer Steve Donohue was riding with Rivera, who was gingerly helped into the clubhouse and did not appear able to put pressure on his injured leg.

No further information was immediately available about Rivera's injury. Rivera regularly shags fly balls in center field during batting practice and has spoken about hoping to play the position in a game before he retires.

That's too bad.  Hopefully that's not how his career ends.

First of all, citation needed.  Second, so what?  Did any of the pitchers we ran through here 2007-2009 matter in the long run?  If anything, Frank would've helped the team with their goal of tanking to get better picks :stir:

At least Frank would've kept order in the clubhouse and spared us the national embarassment of a manager quitting in the middle of a winning streak.

Yeah, too many variables to say.  Of course that might be a good thing in some people's books

I'm becoming a Det fan, but his pickoff move is pretty lame for a lefty.

Danny Espinosa knows he's been struggling, so he & Randy Knorr took to steam room recently to hash a few things out:

That's an unusual place to hash things out....

What's the difference between a 2-seam fast ball and a sinker?

I'll bet he's got an "A" move stashed away for when he needs it.  He's not really trying to throw him out right now, just keep him close.

Personal preference.  They're synonymous.

They're the same (for the most part).

Yea that's how it usually is, but I don't think I have seen a good pickoff move in all his starts, though I don't really look for it.  just something I noticed.
