I still think we are a better team with Harper playing than on the bench. I'm just getting uncomfortable with him hitting 2d when he is in a slump. I'd prefer him back around 6th or 7th in the order until he works things out, with spot duty for Moore against most lefties.

We need him and ALR hitting to avoid teams stacking RHP against us.

We're a better team and in a playoff run this year, but, I'd send him down to mature (sans service time) next year if the white whale presents themselves in the offseason - seeing the promise of harper at 19 makes me wish we didn't have to trade this season for age 27 because he looks like he'll be special, but he was called up when the team needed a boost so is wasn't a waste, still I'd consider him the movable piece to make room for Moby though

It is kind of amazing to compare Bryce's age 19 season to A-Rod's. A-Rod was brought up in early May, held SS until mid-August, then Pinnella (I think he was the manager) benched him in favor of Luis Sojo. He had spot duty in the rest of August and September. After a good May, his slash line next peaked on 8/4 at .256 / .275 / .453.

Bryce's recent hot streak has pushed him very close to the top of the All-Time 19 year old leaderboard for fWAR.

Note that I blue-boxed Mel Ott and Ty Cobb, because they were not rookies in their Age 19 season.

Bryce Harper needs just 0.3 fWAR to surpass Washington's own Buddy Lewis for the greatest rookie season by a 19 year old in major league history.

He won't win a gold glove because he's not the best defensive centerfielder in the NL. He isn't even the best defensive CF in the division.

To an extent they are- bigger name players usually win, and good hitters are usually bigger name players

No one said this year. The future? He sure as heck might win won. He's got the talent and ability. Consider how well he's actually played in center and how little time he has at the position. Kid just might be a natural out there.

How many players have a bigger name right now than Bryce Harper? Like I said, I'm not suggesting that he'll win it this year or next, but he clearly has the talent to win a few.

No, he isn't better. The guy is a joke in CF. He doesn't have a positive UZR in four years. He hasn't posted a non-negative number of DRS since 2008.

Basically, Kemp should be playing LF or first base
