I wasn't aware it was five balls for a walk back in 1901.

It used to be 9. Then it went gradually down over the years until it was set at 4.

Seriously? Well that explains the low walk rate all the guys had back then. Was it always three strikes?

For one season it was 4 strikes, but mostly it always been three strikes.

Just coming into the game....I saw they were down 5-1. Hopefully the offense can pick up. 4 runs is not much to come back from. Lets just get the guys on base and chip away at it one inning at a time. Lets go Nats!

That's why the talk about the DH (and other things) not being real baseball is ridiculous. There are so many things that are different now that it makes those pompous "purists" laughable.
