Yeah, I felt a little silly after going back and reading that post again, but, it happens, all is well now.  I think I'm with the program now ;)

Auto Draft is this Thursday - make sure you have your positions ranked before the computer starts selecting players for your roster or it will choose from the default rankings.

Today is the LAST CHANCE to update your Player Rankings and the Draft Order by Position.  NOTE: With our StdRoto Scoring system, Runs Scored are NOT used for hitters' Fantasy scoring, and Strikeouts are NOT used for pitchers' Fantasy scoring.

According to the rules, we can add 2 reserve players after the Automated draft.  22 of our 24 players will score each week.  Good luck!

Well from the looks of your roster - it appears you made some special requests of players in your rankings that wear curly-Ws on their heads.   ;)

Oh you know it!  Although I did not request Nook Logan which was a surprise I would just get from the automation and I was very surprised to see I got some little known third baseman. ;)

So I have to have 22 active players correct?  When this whole rollercoaster starts are all 22 players going to be getting points/scoring when they play their respective games?  Like having two catchers active is normal right?

Also, I have two injured players (both saying they want to start Opening Day).  If I put them on reserve am I in some violation and if so, how do you fix it?

How many free agent reserves do you get?

My apologies for my lack of Fantasy knowledge...

You can go to Add/Drop and add 2 Free Agents.  (It has to clear a waiver-claim process, so it won't go through until this Saturday.)  You can have 24 players, with 2 in Reserve; we drafted 22.  In the Status column, click on a player's Active status to change it to Reserve and vice versa.  Note the little brown baseballs, showing the dates pitchers are scheduled to pitch.  Hold the mouse over that ball, and it will show you the opposing pitcher.  A Starting Pitcher (SP) with no brown ball could be injured.  You can use Add/Drop to delete injured players or players you just don't like, and replace them with free agents.

I drafted Ryan Church in the last round.  He's available for trade, for the right offer!

Washington Nationals drafted in the Automated Draft league:
30th pick - Chad Cordero - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
82nd - Ryan Zimmerman - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
86th - Austin Kearns - MoochieDC_86 (Pure Columbian)
100th - Felipe Lopez - Nats19 (Escobar's Injuries)
106th - Brian Schneider - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
130th - Nook Logan - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
175th - John Patterson - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
182nd - Matt Chico - Nat of the Living Dead (Carolina Senators)
215th - Ryan Church - nats2playoffs

The owners Forum names:

Nats19 (Escobar's Injuries)

Damn guys, am I the only one that has some faith in the DC team?  ;)

Nah, I wanted to be a bit risky with some of my picks and play some of my favorites.

It looks like 5 owners used the Automated Draft default setting for order of picks by position.  I had a feeling that would happen, so I set my pick for a lot of those positions prior to the default turn.  It got me 6 really good players.

Albert Pujols went off #1 in the automated draft, to DPMOmaha. Since Runs scored is not part of the scoring in Sportsline's Standard Roto, Vladimir Guerrero actually scored more fantasy points in 2006 than Pujols.  So I picked RF first and got him.

Since Ryan Church's RBIs and HRs were consistent even in the minors in 2006, I moved him up on that basis and ended up drafting him on my last pick.  If he can merely maintain his 2006 MLB batting average, he could end up being a fantasy bargain.  It won't help for fantasy purposes, but I think a lot of pitchers are going to throw Church junk in 2007, thinking he'll swing at it.  More than any other Nationals player, he should take pitches and get a lot more walks, to make them pay for it.

I've been chewing over these numbers and rosters and I definately did better in the live draft.  It looks like Sportsfan882 has a very intimidating team.  He's back loaded with power hitters from the outfield AND has Johan Santana.  Plus B.J. Ryan for saves.

You're gonna be a tough nut to crack Sportsfan.

I probably would have picked up a nat if this had been a live draft, but since I didn't have that luxury, I didn't end up with any.  That being said, I think I made out ok.  I have a couple of holes I'd like to get filled, but all in all, I'm in pretty good shape.

I probably would have picked up a nat if this had been a live draft, but since I didn't have that luxury, I didn't end up with any....

SS Cristian Guzman and 1B Dmitri Young are still available, as well as SPs Shawn Hill, Jerome Williams and Jason Bergmann.  I think everyone is looking to see if Guzman's S.T. stats hold up.

Fantasy sports gives you a greater awareness of the competition, which helps evaluate your home team.  The 4th and 5th rotation spots for most teams are pretty bad.  The #3 isn't all that great for many teams.  The weak teams are poor at the #1 and/or #2 spot.  Spending money is no guarantee for quality.  Livan, Armas, and Ortiz are all starting for other teams now.  So lets see how our guys do.

How does the Add/Drop Option work?  Like do I have to drop a player before I add or can I add and then drop?  How does the process work if I have a player that I want nothing really to do with?
You can never have more than 24 on the roster, so you have to drop someone before you add.  If you do a drop and add in the same transaction, you won't short-change your lineup size by accident.

If you put the mouse over League Home and click on the drop-down for Rules (and THEN click on the complete Official Rules at the bottom of that page):

Free Agents
Any player not on any other team's Fantasy roster and not on Waivers (discussed below) is considered a Free Agent. Requests for free agents are effective for the following week's games. For example, if an owner adds a Free Agent and drops a player on Wednesday, the roster is instantly updated for the following week, but the "pre-Add/Drop" roster is still in effect for the remainder of the current week's games. The deadline for submitting a Free Agent request is thirty (30) minutes before the first game of the scoring period in order to have the transaction effective for that week.

Waivers
In order to provide an equal opportunity for all owners to add players that are new to the free agent pool, a Waivers process is used. Owners' requests to add players on waivers are not executed immediately, but are put in a pending status for at least 24 hours. This allows multiple teams to request the same players. Every night between midnight and 6:00AM ET a Waivers process will be run, executing the pending requests in Waiver Rank order (explained below). All transactions during the waiver process are effective for the next scoring period...

Looks like you already figured it out.

I didn't realize we could do Add/Drop's and Trades now.  It makes sense.  If you hold the mouse over Players and then click on Free Agents, their is an absolute wealth of data on who is available.  Also note the Two Start Pitchers report you can click on (two starts in the next weekly scoring period.)  After clicking on a position, you can then click on the Players box and change it from Free Agents to All of a position, or All Pitchers or All Batters.  You can click on the top of a column and sort it in that order.  YOu can click on ALL at the very bottom to list all players, instead of just the top 30.  Also, you can change Time Frame to 2006, since there is so little Year-to-Date data now.

You get a better sense of where the Nationals are when you see the competition.  Some of these teams have pitching rotations a lot worse than the Nationals, IMHO.  We'll see!

You are allowed two reserve positions...so if you don't already have a reserve you can go ahead and add two new players now without dropping anyone.  The reserve positions are useful if you have players that are on the DL and you don't want to give them up so that someone else can grab them.

Just make sure after you have made any selections or changes that you check that your roster is valid.  You can double check this by using the "warnings" selection under the "My Team" tab.  If it says your roster is OK then you are cool.  Also remember any changes will not take affect until the following week...(unless you make those changes just prior to the deadline).

Ok, so I'm trying to set my line up for the next period and I don't see tomorrow listed either on this period which is listed as 4/1 - 4/7 and period 2 is listed as 4/9 - 4/15.  Do tomorrow's stats not count for this league?

Yes they do...as part of week 1 stats.  I think it's screwed up because of day 1 of the season (Cards vs. Mets), which was squeezed in to fit the graphic.

Posted on the League Message Board:

Each team is allowed 22 active players and 2 reserves - some teams are SHORT. Note that the "Players" heading lets you search Free Agents and sort stats with the column headings or by using YTD, 2006, last 7 days, etc.

2k6nats can use Add/Drop to add 2 players.
Chiefly Cheeseburgers (The Chief) can add 1.
Pure Columbian (MoochieDC_86) can add 2.
Sportsfan882 can add 1.

A warning message may appear until you have each slot filled, with a maximum of 2 Utility players.

Congratulations to Senators2005, as his Alexandria Dukes finally took the lead by the end of a week.

Also, note that you do NOT have to put more than 5 pitchers in the lineup, as long as you have 900 innings pitched by season's end.  We do NOT score strikeouts, so Wins/Saves, ERA, and WHIP are the only scoring categories.  You don't have to lower your team ERA and WHIP by starting a bad pitcher who you expect to stink in a particular week.

Tonight my pitchers have finally started to suck the way I thought they might when they were drafted.  2 losses, a 3rd on the way, lousy stats.  I had some rain outs and snow cancellations earlier, when other managers saw their own pitchers shelled.  I never expected to be on top, so it was funny to see myself move up at first - only because others were getting bad results.  This league is going to tighten up soon.
