he hit some pretty solid balls today, no complaints.

He's batting like .111 after a week...there's better options.

Note: 2 K's for our batters today, 12Ks for our pitchers.

2 might be a record for this team.

I like it. As someone else, or maybe several others have said "a sloppy win is still a win" Now to clean up the wins and keep them consistant. Hotter bats are in order.

I only got to see bits and pieces of the game on MASN while getting ready for work.  The look on Gio's face when he got that hit was priceless.  How can you not love this guy?

I think Gio is totally loveable!!!  His smile is infectious.

My grandson, Nathan, 3 years old is also totally loveable.  With a name like Nathan, how could he miss?

hammonds just has an irrepressible anti-crush on Bernadina, it's almost ignore-worthy.  I'm sure he was crapting his pants at the thought of Bernadina walking off the game (which he sort of did, but hammonds ignores that of course)

His response to this post will be to point out all the token compliments he's given Flores this week just so that he'd have something to point to when I say this stuff :smh: ;)

Did anyone see Bernadina try to stop Zimm from scoring? Wanted to win the game on his own. :mg:

Yeah Bernie made decent contact today.  But I'm hoping Ankiel will hit better.

Gio was awesome today.  Lidge wasn't even all that bad - that grounder by Zim should have been an easy double play to end the game.

Zim had an all around terrible game.  He had one well hit ball his first time up from what I remember but it was caught at the warning track.  He also made a really nice defensive play but had about 3 terrible plays.

Stammen was really good.  Clip was pretty good.  LaRoche had another really nice game.

Technically the crimson chin was the only National to drive in any runs

My only complaint about the game was the Werth STILL does that damn strikeout strut.

...Gio was awesome today...

Since Gio Gonzalez lead Major League Baseball in Walks in 2011 with 91, it was especially nice that he didn't walk anyone:

Pitchers                      IP    H  R   ER  BB SO HR  PC-ST
G Gonzalez                7.0   2   0   0   0   7   0   97-64
T Clippard      (H, 2)   1.0   1   0   0   0   2   0   23-17
B Lidge            (B, 1)  1.0   2   2   2   2   0   0   24-13
C Stammen (W, 1-0)   1.0   0   0   0   0   3   0   10-9

The pitchers are also #1 in K's.  #2 in ERA.  #3 in BA against  #6 in WHIP.
