He’s not Spider-Man anymore.
doh!  Tom Holland, who is only 25. That's more believable. Holland I guess has done all the MCU ones, I think, from his wiki

I'm completely out of touch on the super-hero movies, the last Spider Man I saw was when Toby McGuire was still in the role. Everyone raves about the newest Spider Man so I plan to check that out this week.

^ This latest Spiderman was really, really fun.  I'm only somewhat-above-marginally into superhero flicks (my partner is obsessed so I end up seeing them one way or another), but it was such an engrossing movie.  It managed to contain a lot of the warm familiarity of a superhero movie without a lot of the tired tropes, and approached conflicts and personal growth from new and refreshing angles.  Was also very meta, but not in a dumb/insulting or over-the-top kind of way.

I watched that. Was not that impressed. Too long. And not that funny.
Jonah Hill made me laugh out loud a few times. And the song lyrics during the big concert.  Make sure you watch the scene after the credits.

I dunno, the premise is something I want to like, but the everything in the trailer just struck me as having all of the subtlety of a circus elephant with the runs.

Watched Disney's Encanto last night. It was OK, nothing special.

Rons gone wrong on Disney+ is really good. We randomly landed on it and were very pleasantly surprised. I don't think I've seen any marketing at all for it.

The Neil Young documentary "Barn" was really cool.  He bought an old timber frame barn in Colorado, rebuilt it and set up a recording studio inside.  His wife Daryl Hannah produced the film, Neil and Crazy Horse work through a new 10 song set.  Really fun, free to AARP members.    :hysterical:

Sometimes though you wish Neil would just lay down the bowl and play.     But yes, he does play.  He's a really underrated guitar player, at his best with Crazy Horse.  Who, by the way, features DMV great Nils Lofgren.  But when Neil picks up the electric guitar, Nils knows his place.  Sparse arrangements, raw energy, great acoustics, none of that Nashville overproduced crap where they bring in 20 strings, gospel choirs, keyboard players, synthesizers, .... :hang:

I can’t remember a less hyped Pixar movie, but it was really good.

Just been revisiting Welles'  'The Trial'  (his film adaptation of Kafka's final novel 'Der Proces').

The reviews for Top Gun Maverick are largely saying that it is way better than the original.

The trailer makes me remember what a freaking Movie Star Tom Cruise is, off the charts charisma and charm. It may be cheesy as hell but I am betting it's going to be a totally fun ride, cannot wait!

I've kind of lost track of his career, but he's such a different age now, so maybe he gets a reboot out of this.

we saw the new Dr. Strange movie last night. It seemed much more of an Evil Dead movie than a MCU movie.

Top Gun Maverick really is THAT good. My sister watched the first more times than anyone ever needs to lol but she's also the only person I know who understood who the new love interest is.

I watched the original in San Diego while on a work trip.  A day after touring the Kitty Hawk.  One of those rare times it rains in SD all week.

Top Gun was very good. Not best movie of all time great, but I enjoyed it.

Definitely see it in IMAX. We went to udvar-hazy. Get there early as lines were very long. We arrived 45 minutes before showtime and there were 75ish people already in line.
