Impressive film knowledge - 'Gregory's' is very Scottish, in terms of its humor. Did you come to it via 'Local Hero' ?
no, I saw it when it came out. I think it was out before local hero. I forget how I heard about it.
As we are talking about very local movies, there are a couple I always recommend about Boston. One is "Next Stop Wonderland," which is sort of a rom com. The title is derived from the subway line that goes northeast of the city by Logan Airport. TBH, it's been so long that I forget the story line (quick look at the wiki has the couple meeting on the subway after or while their prior relationships are failing; despite my bland description, it was up for a grand jury prize at Sundance, so it's pretty good).

Monument Ave is the street that goes up to the top of Bunker Hill in Charlestown (yes, the Bunker Hill from the battle, the monument is the obelisk commemorating the battle). Charlestown used to be a notoriously insular white ethnic neighborhood with something of a small time criminal reputation but which was in the process of gentrification at the time of the movie. It's the same neighborhood featured in "Mystic River." Martin Sheen plays a police detective who mainly tries to keep the crime small time. Leary is great in it.
