Bryce Harper officially ruined Livan. He is #1 in Bryce Harper's kill list. Halladay was killed by Harper too. so he's #2. I'm hoping Cole Hamels is his next victim

Does Brandon Morrow count?

Jerome Williams to the DL for exercise induced asthma.
Quote
News:  Angels starting pitcher Jerome Williams was back in the clubhouse on Wednesday, after going to the hospital on Monday with shortness of breath. While he has been feeling better, he said he has been diagnosed with an exercise-induced asthma attack, which will keep him off the mound for a while. MLB.com is reporting that he will be placed on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Giants, with Jered Weaver to be activated in his place. When he was asked when he will be ready to pitch, Williams responded with, "When the doctors say I'm ready." Garrett Richards will take his spot in the rotation

Tom Milone's complete game tonight.  His line: 9IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 2K

/shakes fist.  You're supposed to be our #5.

I love Gio and all, and we would be in deep water this year without him. BUT... I think when the pages have all been written and the book is done, the Nats will regret letting Millone go. He's got some great stuff and is only going to get better.

Two strikeouts in nine innings. Sure he didn't get very, very lucky?

I liked Milone, but you gotta give to get.

Eh, I dunno, didn't watch the game, haven't watched any games he's pitched this year. But he looks like a guy who, at age 27-28, might have some pretty great stuff. He's had a couple other games where he was lights out iirc.

The two ks? Meaningless. He's pitched 89.1 innings this year and has 52 Ks. He is not a strikeout pitcher in the slightest.

Millone can get by with low Ks in Oakland (like last night) and in some of the AL and NL West parks because they are not homer friendly.  You can pitch to contact and not get burned by it.  He does not walk guys and he challenges guys.  I think Beane made a smart call in figuring out a guy like Millone is more valuable out west than he is in eastern ballparks like CBP and Turner Field, or even in neutral stadiums like Nats Park.

Milone home / Road splits:

Home - 45.2 IP, 0.99 ERA, 1 HR, .463 OPS, .198 wOBA
Road -  43.2 IP, 7.42 ERA, 12 HR, .941 OPS, .401 wOBA
Oakland Park factor - .846 Runs, .901 HR

The trade I think is one where both Rizzo and Beane knew exactly what their strengths and weaknesses were and matched up. Norris is Suzuki's backfill, but was just a depth piece here given the number of quality catchers in the system.  Peacock and Cole are the upside backfills but uncertain. Millone fits the ballpark.  Gio is a Cy candidate and the lefty to slot between SS and JZ.

Norris would be getting playing time here if he hadn't been traded.

Milone is nice, but replaceable. Edwin Jackson is essentially his replacement.

I just want to know what AJ Cole is going to do

Slateman - I think Norris will have a better career than Flores and now Ramos, and I'm saying that before he even hits the majors.  that said, the catching depth in this organization is incredible.  Likely norris would have been first in the queue when Ramos went down, but I don't think we've been hurt that much by our injured catcher of the day cycle so far.  Cole is the wild card.  He is the one guy in that trade (mroe than peacock) that, if everything works out, will be as good or better than Gio.  It's jsut he's far away from the majors, TINSTAAPP, etc. . .

Cole actually took a bit of a step back this year as the A's pushed him to High A before sending him back to Low A after his results weren't up to snuff. Most of it came from a .405 BABIP... I think he'll be a good one.

In the end, the trade will likely be a rare win-win for both teams.

He's in the lineup facing Kershaw.

Hope he hold his own. I really do think he has the talent to be an all-star at some point in his career.

so that's why we turned a series of posts on milone into a series of posts on norris.  Not only can we place thoughts into Davey's and Rizzo's heads, but we turned Billy Beane into a WNFF mind reader.

First at bat GIDP.  I hope he does well, but facing Kershaw for your first MLB game is brutal.

And he lines out hard to 3B in his last at-bat. Hopefully gets a hit next game.

Norris just cut down Gordon trying to steal. That's impressive.

Norris throws out Gordon trying to steal second.

...and he needs a shave.  He looks more homeless than Phil Wood.

did OK in the farm portion of my fantasy draft (roto dynasty).  Middlebrooks, Hultzen (just got the bump to AAA), and Norris.

Quick Pitch just had a 3-5 minute segment on Derek Norris since today was his first game.

He went 0-3 but had a throw out and called a good game.

According to Bill Hall on Twitter (yes, that Bill Hall), Livo is on his way to join the Brewers rotation.
