Millone can get by with low Ks in Oakland (like last night) and in some of the AL and NL West parks because they are not homer friendly. You can pitch to contact and not get burned by it. He does not walk guys and he challenges guys. I think Beane made a smart call in figuring out a guy like Millone is more valuable out west than he is in eastern ballparks like CBP and Turner Field, or even in neutral stadiums like Nats Park.
Milone home / Road splits:Home - 45.2 IP, 0.99 ERA, 1 HR, .463 OPS, .198 wOBA
Road - 43.2 IP, 7.42 ERA, 12 HR, .941 OPS, .401 wOBA
Oakland Park factor - .846 Runs, .901 HR
The trade I think is one where both Rizzo and Beane knew exactly what their strengths and weaknesses were and matched up. Norris is Suzuki's backfill, but was just a depth piece here given the number of quality catchers in the system. Peacock and Cole are the upside backfills but uncertain. Millone fits the ballpark. Gio is a Cy candidate and the lefty to slot between SS and JZ.
