Niice.  Question, though: is he too old for this level?
Yes.

But keep in mind 2012 is his first full year of professional ball.

He didn't pitch at all in '09 (when he was drafted), missed all of 2010 and only saw action in 13 games last year.

If he pitches next year in Harrisburg he'll be 25, which would still make him a tick too old but wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.

Saw Matt Barnes in Potomac a few weeks ago. He's pretty nasty.

No way he's that much better of a prospect than Alex Meyer, though.

Didn't see a thread for Rick Hague but he's been red hot lately in Potomac after a slow start.

Last 10 games: 17/41 (.415/.467/.707) with 5 Doubles, 2 Triples, 1 HR, 8 RBIs, 6 SBs, 0 CS.

Potomac seeks a fill-in mascot as Uncle Slam's costume is damaged from a fire in the admin offices of Pfitzner.

                   Uncle Slam on the DL

I'm not certain, but I think some of the professional mascot costumes have a fan or some kind of air conditioning built in.

A $100 gorilla suit will have the wearer soaked in sweat, head to foot, within 5 minutes.  It was quite comfortable at the 2008 Nationals Park Opening Day, when temperatures dropped into the 40s in the 7th inning. I do wear a tall patriotic hat with it, exactly like the one Uncle Slam has on.  (But not at Nationals Park, as it would block the view of the fans seated behind me.)

They'd have to pay me a LOT of money to wear that thing in July-August heat:

"The mascot would need to remain with Potomac for two months. The new mascot would also go under its current name, but would do the same in-game promotions that Potomac has had throughout the season.  Any mascot willing to sign a two-month contract with Potomac would be rewarded with baseball bucks, Chilli's Lemonade, Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and the opportunity to watch fireworks every Saturday night."

Like MDS, I really like Chick-Fil-A, but it doesn't sound like they're paying anything at all. The traffic to get to that area is horrendous, too.  A gorilla drinking a beer out of a bottle gets a lot of laughs, but that's probably not the image the Potomac Nationals have in mind...

Hector Nelo craps the bed with 2 outs in the 9th and blows the game for the Eastern League in the AA ASG. Awful

i've seen him pitch a couple times.  the only bad time was like the night after the draft when he got shelled by FSU.  good pick.

in other news, trevor holder didn't have a great AA debut.

For anyone who has milb.tv, the Syracuse game is in the 12th, tied 0-0, still going on.

Going to the 14th, still tied 0-0.  Mike O'Connor is pitching for the Yankees, the Scranton-WB version, that is.

Chiefs lose, 1-0 in 14.  Brett Carroll was hit by a throw while running to first but was called out because he was outside the baseline (he wasn't, btw).  That would have given Syracuse runners on 2nd and 3rd, no outs but the runner who would have been on 3rd was forced back to first and the inning fell apart from there.

How's the quality of the AAA broadcast?

Is it like watching an MLB game?

Brett Mooneyham with a nice outing for Auburn yesterday.

4IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 4K

Outside of Giolito hes the biggest key from the 2012 draft. Huge upside.

Ninth round pick in 2011 - RHP Dixon Anderson finally made his pro debut today in the GCL throwing a perfect inning.

He had been injured and rehabbing since being drafted.

werth, tracy, nady and meyers in Potomac tonight, but it looks like there's a good chance of a rainout.
