America is being screwed, and that's what this is about.  Being screwed by Europeans and Asians who steal our intellectual property. This legislation is aimed at stopping that.  It is poorly written legislation, written by congressional staff and so-called experts who know little to nothing about the subject, but protecting intellectual property  is still a good idea.

Major-league sources confirmed the length of the contract, and another said that the financial terms are more friendly to the Rangers than had been anticipated from the outset of the 30-day process to get the Japanese ace signed.

Could be bad news on the Prince front.

More team friendly = less money = more money to sign Prince if they so choose.

Regardless, they are out 52 million immediately due to the posting fee. The posting fee is due as one lump sum and can't be broken down into installments.

Ok?

There's always been rumblings they have enough money for both Darvish and Prince... and getting a team friendly deal on Darvish would only seem to strength that opinion.

Even if it's less than people anticipated him getting, it's not like he's going to get like $1 million a year or something. No way it's a significant enough difference to affect their ability to sign Fielder either way.

They're not going to think "Well, that's $1-$2 million a year extra over the next six years we have that we didn't expect, let's go spend $25 million a year on Prince for eight years now."

Keep in mind, there is no news yet.  The deal could fall apart in the next hour.

Sanity. But the LoD needs something to sustain itself, I guess.

Well, yeah, there's that but I'm assuming he signs. And that's great news for the Nats.

It doesn't mean that the Nats will sign Prince or the Rangers won't sign him. It just means that the Rangers have a whole lot less money now they've signed Yu. And I'm amused when the LoD says, "Oh, he signed for a little less so they still have a lot of money left." Please. They have to put up $51 million in one lump sump before the ink is even dry on the contract.

I'm figuring there is a game of chicken going on. The Rangers don't want to sign Darvish, but they don't want to look like the bad guys either. So they need a way for this deal to fall through and make it look like the fault of the Darvish side.   And the same thing might be going on on the Darvish side. Should be an iteresting hour ahead.

EDIT: Ok, I reread the article and see where you get this but I think it will get done though.

I didn't "get" it, I made it up. It's just a theory.

I'm not a nervous nellie.  I just believe that the Rangers have planned on signing him all along but were just laying low from the beginning.  I hope I'm wrong but I fully believe they are signing both Darvish & Fielder.  Prince in that ballpark is just an awesome fit.
