Did you hear that Fielder is in Dallas talking to the Rangers!?

Personally, I think all this hype about Fielder is by Boras.  We're all Marionettes and hes pulling the strings to get an ungodly amt. For his client!  The client shouldn't have that kind of money for that many years.  It going to handicap us more than help us!  Is A-rod now worth what hes being paid now?  NO! AND NEITHER IS FIELDER!  Well have another Albert Belle on our hands!

I rather get CEPEDES who takes good care of himself and train him in American Baseball!

lol, no.

I'd rather get Fielder now and damn the future since it appears we aren't going to re-sign any of the talent anyway due to fear of wrecking the budget   Might as well go all-in now while we have a window of cheap once-in-a-generation talent :?

Who gives a freak about the past. I will be amused seeing hammonds try to string sentences together to post on other topics.

This one might come in handy. Sigged.

Tom - the Kilgore article on how we can afford Fielder and zimmerman talks about how other teams operate with minimal operating profits, including teams that are leveraged.  It is not routine to do what the Lerners are doing.  it might be routine in real estate, but it is not with ball clubs.  As for how much cash they had to put down, I suppose we could research it, but I'm going to guess it was not $150MM in free cash they had around.  More likely, it came off of a credit line or some other borrowing. i'm sure that is part of the calculation that they are not going to take a dime out of the team for the first 10 years and other BS they fling / flang / flung.

I recall from 2004 that the league was looking for a buyer who did not have to borrow the down payment, who could afford to make a substantial equity investment without debt for that portion.  The level of cash out of pocket I have no idea, we'll need someone to rip off a set of financial statements to find out.

Especially when you factor in THE MAIN REASON he has been so militant in his agenda of defending the Lerners (other than being in the old man's will).  :lmao:

Also, the ballpark in Arlington is a good 30-45 minute trip to Dallas, and that's a good day. No public transportation either, because the city is run by mentally-incapable-to-function city leaders.

It's slightly closer to Fort Worth than to Dallas.

And in fact they do have a fairly decent rail system - DART, with 55 stations.

So the Mariners are probably out now.  Down to DC and Texas and maybe Toronto and Baltimore.  If Oswalt comes off the market some time in the next few days, I think the chances go up that the Rangers sign Darvish.  Unless Oswalt signs in Texas, in which case they migh sign Fielder and let Darvish go back to Japan.

Morse ain't that valuable.  They'd never go for that IMO.

Jeez .... Morse would put up some good numbers in Yankee stadium.

Anyway, they need position players. They have enough guys to DH.

Tweet from three minutes ago:

RT @Evan_P_Grant Somebody in a local hotel room registered to a Prince Fielder just very politely hung up on me when I identified myself.

I've worked in the hospitality industry.  I'm shocked they registered the room under his name.

Austin?

Went to Austin once for a football game.  It was on Halloween weekend.  6th St. and Halloween mix very well.

Halloween on 6th St. is awesome lol. I like Austin a bit more than San Antonio, having lived in both places.

Oh...and sign Fielder!!

Dart is Dallas' public transportation. No lines to Arlington, only the TRE from Ft. Worth to Dallas. The Mayor of Arlington has argued against public transportation, on the grounds that it would 'bus in trouble'... Gotta love it
