RT @Evan_P_Grant Somebody in a local hotel room registered to a Prince Fielder just very politely hung up on me when I identified myself.

Plus an awesome stadium for a slugger.
You got a good point there. Hitters like home parks that help their stats.

Austin?

On a scale of 1 to 10, one being good and 10 being awful.
1. San Antonio
2. Austin
88. Dallas
99: Houston

You are right.

Black friend of mine once said this about Dallas. "It's every black man's worst nightmare....it's full of white trash with money."

I bet that applies to Houston too.

Houston's worse.

Dallas and Houston really do blow. Austin and San Ant are the only bright spots of this crappy state

Local hotel registered to prince.  How is that possible?  He was supposedly meeting with the rangers in Dallas today.  I doubt he flew all the way back here yet.  He shouldn't be in a rush

HAHAHAHA I was thinking of doing the same thing! I'm sure a rabid Nats fan would convince him to sign in DC...

Also, the ballpark in Arlington is a good 30-45 minute trip to Dallas, and that's a good day. No public transportation either, because the city is run by mentally-incapable-to-function city leaders. I do enjoy the Rangers team, but screw Tejas, Prince! Sign with the Nats!!

i think the nats have come to the point where they are an attractive FA landing spot and in this particular case it comes down to who has the better offer.  imo, nats fans shouldn't have to beg prince to come here, you beg the nats to do what it takes to bring prince here.

@JonHeymanCBS prince fielder has embarked on latest tour of teams. hes going to travel to see several teams the next few days. #thetour

Too bad he isn't traveling with Adam Richman, "Fielder vs. Food" on a multi-city tour would be must-see TV.

Damn hopefully he doesn't go an ESPN to announce his decision.  Take your talents to DC, Prince.

I'm expecting a one-stop tour, and he's there.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/_/id/7459914/reports-prince-fielder-dallas-talking-texas-rangers

Reports: Prince Fielder talks to Rangers

Free-agent slugger Prince Fielder is in Dallas to meet with the Texas Rangers at an area hotel, according to multiple media reports.

According to USA Today, the former Milwaukee Brewers first baseman and Rangers general manager Jon Daniels were in the lobby of the hotel.

The Rangers are one of a handful of teams interested in the top hitter remaining on the free-agent market, but according to USA Today, the meeting should not be taken to mean that they are the favorite. According to CBSSports.com, Fielder has embarked on a tour of teams.

Fielder obviously makes sense for the Rangers, given their lack of production at first base in recent years and the fact that he's a power, left-handed bat. The question is what kind of contract he would command. ESPN.com's Buster Olney tweeted that one executive believes the Rangers, Nationals and Cubs have been holding out for a contract structure of six years with an opt-out after three years at $22 to $24 million a year.

The Rangers are also in negotiations with Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish and could likely afford both at those terms.

There's a difference between being cheap and *having* been cheap in the past.  Fielder doesn't re-write history, but it is a chance to show that the times they are a changin'

Who gives a freak about the past. I will be amused seeing hammonds try to string sentences together to post on other topics.

Bullcrap - Houston is 1/3 white, 1/3 black, and 1/3 hispanic. so, just no.

So I see you'll be going with the "past doesn't count" argument in the future.

This.  The reports about the Nats interest have never really developed into anything and you'd think by this point at least some kind of progress would be made.  Texas really makes too much sense, assuming they can handle the commitment.

Of course they can, they have owners that care more about winning than they do their bottom line... which, btw, continues to grow as they continue to win.

What a fun season LaRoche has ahead of him, daily comments comparing him to Fielder and analysis of how we'd be a playoff team if we had upgraded his position.
