"Even in my worst year [in 2010], I hit .253," Morgan said. "What did [Werth] hit?"
Nyjer Morgan weigh in on Jayson Werthhttp://dc.sbnation.com/washington-nationals/2011/10/12/2484784/nyjer-morgan-milwaukee-brewers-jayson-werth-nlcs
Well, Morgan hit for higher average than Werth, so he's the better hitter. Case closed.
Dave Sheinin of the Washington Post talked to Morgan about the incident and his journey back to respectability.
Morgan may have journeyed back to success - at least temporarily - but he will never arrive back at respectability.
I don't believe I said otherwise.
Better BA, SLG, and OBP, better fielding percentage too.
That is the flaw with SLG Werth had an ISO of .157 and Morgan .117. This entire argument is kind of dumb as players should be valued by their entire career and comparing one players best season to another's worst is kind of pointless. I can look it up and see that Brady Anderson in his best year was better than Mickey Mantle, but I am not sure that is anything to brag about.
To project how a player will perform next year career stats should be weighted with the most recent being the most relevant. In the case of Anderson v. Mantle, I'd strongly argue that Anderson would perform at least marginally better in 2012.
I don't know man. The remains of Mickey Mantle would have an awful tiny strike zone.

The fact that two different versions of ISO exist are enough to make it useless to me. PECOTA's version makes more sense, but frankly I don't find SLG or either version of ISO to be terribly useful "eyeball" stats. They all suffer from the same problem of "true" slugging vs "gapper" slugging. I'd rather just look at the actual count of doubles/triples/homeruns for a guy to get a feel for what kind of hitter a player is.
Nyjer makes around the league minimum in salary. Werth will make 126 million a year. Tell me that doesn't rattle you when you see someone with those poor of numbers. Nats fan rant on werthless all the time. Why can't nyjer?
People making far less money maintain their professionalism. I see little reason to bend over backwards making excuses for someone bad mouthing my team and players.
I wan't defending. I was merely hypothesizing why he would do it.
He was doing it (IMHO) because he is an immature dikweed.
That could be it too. I don't know the guy personally so I'm not going to unfairly judge him.
