Sprtsnyan could have managed this better.  When Davey used Maya, SF would have inserted Clippard.  When Coffey was used, Clippard would have been the choice for SF.  Ditto for the Slaten entry.  Poor Clippard would have no arm left.

Bullpen gave up 1 run in 2 and 2/3 inning of work.  Nothing great, probably just a tad above average.  The real culprit here was our continuing inability to hit Vasquez.    :bang:

Vasquez wasn't going to pitch in the 10th. We needed to prolong the game. We should have been using our best pitchers to get the game into extras. At that point our odds of winning increased dramatically against their pen. By putting in Slaten it didn't even give us a shot.

I won't argue that Slaten is good, but to say it didn't even give us a shot is not supportable.

In his 7 outings since returning from the DL, he'd surrendered runs in 2 of them.  That would seem to indicate that maybe, just maybe, we still would have a shot.

lol since returning from the DL:

4 IP 8 H 6 R 5 ER 1 BB 5 K (11.25 ERA, 2.25 WHIP)

It is almost unreal how bad he's been this year. The numbers don't even tell the whole story. Several times they would just bring him in for a batter or two and he would almost always put them on base or give up a big hit.

I did not watch the game but why would anyone think Lannan pitched poorly?  3 hits 3 walks and 2 runs in 6 innings = 1.00 WHIP, 3.00 RA.

Exactly.   It's a mindfact for me.  He's Mickelson in tights.    Phil can play golf but I don't want him on my team in a pinch.
