I'm not a huge fan of playing spoiler, but after those ATL fans chanted "Overrated" at Strasburg last year, I hope he smokes their free-falling asses.

NatCast: Bravely trying to squeeze in the last evening game of the season
By A. Camden Walker
Nationals vs. Braves
Friday, 7:05 p.m., Nationals Park
First Pitch   9th Inning   Weather   Chance of Rain
71-73   67-70   Rain?   70%
A decent chance for downpours via a shower, or even thunderstorm. Some guidance says the odds of getting this game in are low, but you never really know where, when or how these rain bands will set up until they do. I'm hoping for the best.

$15 Club seats (including shipping) available on eBay for the game tomorrow.  The three auctions are ending very soon and currently have no bids.  If it rains out tonight these tickets would likely be good for a double-header and could end up being the MLB game #200,000.

Wow, early enough?

It's 'baseball withdrawal', setting in a bit earlier than usual (since this is the final homestand of the year).

Since the Phillies thread is closed, I'll post the question here:

How many teams have gotten swept in a 4 game series by a losing club and gone on to win the Series? I'm guessing the answer is not many.

Most recent instance - 27th-30th July 2006: St Louis Cardinals swept in four-match series by Cubs (who would finish 66-96 that season) at Wrigley....only time that's happened in the past 10 seasons (assuming the Phillies come up a day late and 65p short this season).

Carrying it a bit further: of the teams this season that have either clinched or remain mathematically alive, two of them have been aced in four-match series - the Brewers at Atlanta 2nd-5th May, and the Angels at home by the Red Sox 21st-24th April - but neither of the winners of those series are going to finish with losing records.

A true rarity this is.

It's supposed to rain for pretty much the next week, though the heaviest rain will probably be this afternoon/evening.

It wasn't a claim, just doesn't seem likely.  Would be happy to be wrong, been looking forward to this game all week

Davey won't be extra cautious with Strasburg given rain tonight. "I've turned the page. As far as I'm concerned, he's healthy."

I'm coming around to thinking that it actually will happen tonight.  Maybe not at 7:00, but I think that they will get it in one way or another.  The NWS has eased their rain forecast a little, and judging from the radar, there is at least a temporary break coming.

That's what we think as well.  At 5pm, Channel 4 says it will end within 2 hours
