Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 74th win, each season...and then there were two:

2005 - 13th September (145th match of season)
2011 - 20th September (153rd match of season)
[2007 - finished 73-89]
[2006 - finished 71-91]
[2010 - finished 69-93]
[2008 - finished 59-102]
[2009 - finished 59-103]

2011 Nats are now officially the best Nats team since the '05 Overachievers.

The phils also played a bunch of alternates.  they didn't have their primary team out there, which makes sense since their getting ready for next month.  But it was still nice to see the nats do something positive in September.  Next year is the year of the Nats.
They had most of them in there for the night game, sans Howard.

8-8 vs. the Phils on the season.  8-8.  2 games to take the season series.

I swear I remember reading someone/some people's posts over the offseason about how the Nats might not win a single game against the Phillies this year.  Man up, who was it?

There were certainly more overt instances, but there was this one.

Here's a nice quote from that thread:

We can't be afraid to compete. Bring 'em on. It will be that much sweeter when we do beat them.
