They need to shoot more. Eakin had an open in-on-goal and spends three seconds dangling... lo and behold, his shot is deflected from behind and dribbles wide. Doesn't even register as a shot. You can't expect to score 3+ goals with 17 shots. And I don't know why, but it always felt like there were 6 Penguins skating... Caps may have been physically dominating, but that didn't amount to much.

That last couple of minutes was ugly by the Capitals. Good lord!  :bang: :bang: :bang:

Negatives:
This team needs to seriously work on their passing and puck handling. They can be hard to watch at times with the missed passes or the bad puck handling. Also...WTF is up with the passing the puck out of the offensive zone?

Cody Eakin should be playing in Hershey. He just looks unsure of himself at times. I think some seasoning in Hershey would do him some good.

Carlson and Jeff Shultz  Carlson can use the sophomore slump excuse. What's Shultz's excuse?

They do miss Mike Green.

Positives:
Great job on the faceoffs tonight though. I think they doubled the Pens in faceoff wins.

Tons of hits out there by the Great 8.

Vokoun made some good saves in the third to keep us in the game.

Team appears to be trying. It's going to take some time, but the light will go on at some point and they'll be okay.

Penguins are arguably the best team in the league. We were in this game to the end. I think we probably lose 6-1 or 5-1 under BB.

We were much more physical. No surprise there with DH as coach.

Senators coming to town. I believe we broke our losing streak against them last season.  :)

Oh..forgot one other positive. Erskine was throwing punches with serious bad intentions in the fight with Asher. I wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of one of those.  :)

2 shots on goal in the entire third period on home ice vs the Pens? That's inexcusable. Can't blame BB anymore

It sucks to lose in regulation to those twats for the first time in years, but overall it was a step up from what we've been seeing.  Not a big step up (I'd say that making the playoffs is far from a lock), but Vokoun, the Sashas, and some of the D looked a lot better.  A couple of the D-men just continue to stand there like trees and let in slop goals...they know who they are.

Carlson has really stunk.

Green is made of glass.

Schultz is one of the worst D-men in the NHL. Can't believe people defend him.

The rest have been average at best.

Wow, this team just doesn't look very talented. Can't generate any offense. No coach to blame it on anymore. I'm not throwing in the towel yet but I just don't see much talent on this team. Or the talent that we do have just doesn't work as currently configured.

There are so many disappointments on the roster this season. Very few players I have been impressed by. Troubling.

we definitely have talent. its the hard work and focus that we need. in theory that can be fixed. you cant fix talentless

I hate GMGM for freaking up Hunter before he even started by saying that the placement of the "C" wasn't on the table.

we've played much better d against two quality teams. crosby didnt do anything. malkin did a little. they outshot us but mostly from the outside. chances might have been close to equal.

i think we'll be ok. we got OTT FLA OTT for the next three games. hopefully win score some goals, get some success with the system, win three games and get this crap together.

ovie played pretty well. had as many good plays as anybody out there. set up three scoring chances

it will all start clicking. we have 50 something games left

Vokoun looked relatively solid.  Eakin took a dumb penalty, but was otherwise OK.  Hamrlik was great in the press box.  Sasha played pretty well off the boards.  Yeah, at least it wasn't 7-1.

just saw a part of bruce's intro press conference in anaheim. kinda surreal to see him somewhere else so quick. the anaheim gm was like "yeah well, on monday someone became available, and we moved on it"

Good for Gabby...at least there's no way we could possibly play Anaheim before June.

Chimera has easily been the team's best player this year.

The Caps were being outshot 2 to 1 in the first and then roared back in the 2nd and managed to maintain the pace in the 3rd.  We aren't too far away from being a 60 minute team again.

Puck Daddy states the NHL wants to realign to only 4 divisions.  That would mean some divisions with 7 teams and 2 with 8 teams.  Why don't they do it this way:
