What's Up With Our 2011 Draft Class?
« Topic Start: September 09, 2011, 01:31:44 PM »
What is happening with Rendon , Meyers, Goodwin and Purke? Are they still in Vierra? Any reports from the instructional league?

edit: Solis is on the Potomac roster. I suspect he is the furthest advanced of the  2010 class

The instructional league takes place a couple weeks after the season, so it has not started yet. I figure they were in Florida. Don't know if they're staying til instrycts or are allowed home for a bit before heading back.

For whatever reason, they're all traveling with the Auburn team... but not playing.

Thats interesting. I guess just another way to keep them practicing and in shape. A bit surprised that Rendon and Goodwin wouldn't get a shot at an AB or two.

I guess that would mean they stay somewhere with the club until the instructional league. Other players that didnt make it to the playoffs probably go home for a couple weeks then come back. The ones that are invited, of course.

Also this from Kilgore:

Nats release instructional league roster. Most interesting name to me: Raudy Read, 17-yo Dominican catcher they signed in January for $130K.

Raudy Read cannot be a real name.

Some other notable guys from the Nats DSL team are Ivan Pinyero and Diomedes Eusebio.

Pinyero had a SO:BB ratio of 73:20 in in 69.2 IP, with a WHIP of 1.19.  Eusebio led the DSL Nats in 2B (16), HR (6) and RBI (30), but had 21 errors playing mostly 3B.  Pinyero is 19 and Eusebio is 18.

I was kind of surprised to see Wilmer Difo left off the instructional roster.  He played well enough at DSL to earn a spot on the GCL team and was able to at least hold his own in 25 games there.

They should be colloquially known as the Fantastic Four.

Or perhaps the Overpaid Four?

They don't keep track of the instructional league.

At least, not publicly.

Why isn't Sammy Solis on the instructional league roster. Anyone have any numbers on what is going on down there?

edit:

Going to the AFL.

They don't keep numbers in the instructional league. It isn't "real" baseball. Guys can bat every inning or reenter the game or basically do anything that the team wants, it's more of an advanced practice league than anything
