Walk-off grand salami now

Also, Bubbles McCoy is reporting that if you include warm-ups, Livan Hernandez threw 300 pitches last night

Wow, we're tied for 4th in all of MLB for number of wins at home (behind the Yankees, Phillies and Brewers). Nice...

That's the start of a good team!

This is one of those baby steps to respectability/contending I was talking about.  Make your home field a PIT.  Visiting teams would consider it a blessing to get a win in your place.

Wow, what a night.

My friend (EdStroud's friend too) found us a place to hang out during the rain delay under the overhang above 1st base.  A guy there invited us down after the game restarted, so we sat with him 1st row, immediately behind the Nats dugout.

We stayed through the end.  Awesome. Even the Phils fans behind us had to just bow to the Zimm greatness.  High drama, and I think I might have got a little gatorade on me...

Admission time.  I went to sleep after the bottom of the 8th.  I woke up, hit the head, heard WTOP sport start with the skins, flushed, then heard the end of what sounded like a Nat talking about a homer before they gave the other baseball scores.  I did not think it was Ramos, so I began thinking, maybe they came back in the 9th.  started up the computer, went to CBS's site for a scoreboard, and saw 6 in the 9th and a win.  Thankfullly, that replay of Charlie's call was awesome.

All I have to say is I think it is great that Beck looked so well in a preseason game.  The drama and intensity. Indeed, it would be miraculous if the landover 11 came up with a QB.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 60th win, each season:

2005 - 12th August (115th match of season)
2011- 19th August (123rd match)*
2007 - 2nd September (137th match)
2006 - 4th September (137th match)
2010 - 6th September (138th match)
[2008 - finished 59-102]
[2009 - finished 59-103]

*okay I realise the winning run was scored at 00.25 the morning of the 20th, but we're talking matchdays-of-record here.
I like it when we are closer to '05 than '07.

BTW - everyone going tonight should wear the "Mr. :w: alkoff" jerseys if they have them.

Good lord 2008 and 2009.  It feels bad even now looking at that.  Ha.

Wife came in the room at about that time and wanted to watch her show on the DVR, we argued, I lost.  Sorry I missed that one.

Looked like the house was still reasonably full.

Hard to day, maybe 1/3 of the initial crowd.  The long rain delay certainly caused some to bail.  I would have left if it had been a worknight.  Didn't make it home until 2 a.m. as it was, including a 40 minute delay on 66 west due to construction.

I was still in the car when Phil Wood signed off at 1:33 a.m.    :?

Here's a shot of Zimm with his shaving cream pie, puddle of gatorade visible.  Bad cell phone camera, but you can see the view from my seat.

Too bad Blue and I weren't there.  We'd be down with kicking some skullz in.

I think Mathguy was more thinking about where his next steak and cheese was going to come from.

And that after he held me down and forced me to drink 3 Dogfish head Raison d'etre's on an empty stomach, which is probably what helped grease my anger.

We were among the bailees  :icon_frown: because I got soaked trying to escape to the concourse. That rain storm went into torrent mode almost immediately. Glad Zimm is back to being his clutch self (late b-day present for Terp!).

I think this one sort of makes the same point:

well at least this game ended at the normal time.

Amazing game. Zimmerman is SO good. And to do it against the Phillies is just so sweet. Hopefully we can take the series at least. And we're in 3rd place!
