Maybe we could get Brian Bruney back.  He's available and cheap, Rizzo's two favorite words.

I was thinking that maybe Davey should see if David Cone wants to pitch an inning or two a night.

Well this game is pretty much over. Just need a W tomorrow and we'll have a split on the road which I'll be fine with.

It could be worse...The Pirates have lost their last 9 games including tonight 13-2 against the Padres.
They are going to be only 1 game better than us after tonight.

If you guys think Bob Carpenter is bad you just missed an epic missed home run call.

I flipped to the Diamondbacks vs Dodgers game, and Chris Young hit a deep fly ball with a man on 2nd and 2 outs in a 5-3 game in the 8th, and the Dbacks announcer screamed like it was a home run, and the camera man practically jammed the camera up towards the ceiling. The ball was caught on the warning track lol.

Assuming a loss here, the Nats are 7-17 when Livan Hernandez starts and 47-42 when anyone else does.

Some of that's not his fault.  Remember when we scored no runs for him for three or four straight outings.  He lost 1-0 twice, I think.

...but other than that he's been awful.

When Jordan Z stops pitching this month, what's the rotation?

Touchdown and two-point conversion sends it to overtime.

I thought I read somewhere, where they were going to try and plan Strasburgs return around the shut down of Zimmermann

OK. That was a terrible game. And maybe Bixler is not Brett Gardner II

Well, the terribleness of the bullpen almost completely overshadowed Livan's terribleness.

Ahem.  I made that :judge:

Besides, that's a stupid stat.  Many of those losses were because of the then-putrid offense, not Livo.  He had a great year last year and a good first half this year.  Now he's turning back into a pumpkin like the rest of our starters.  I believe I predicted as much very early in the season.  Not sure why anyone is acting like it's some kind of surprise.

Forget the losses.  He keeps crapting the bed lately.  That's what happens when a guy is like 50 years old.  He's going to fizzle out.

That's why he needs a short leash when it comes to the second half.  But you sentimental folk want to keep trying to throw around pixie dust and tell yourself it ain't happenin.

I think you're imagining things.  He's been pretty bad for the last 6 weeks and I don't think anyone's denying it.

I went out with some friends to watch the UFC fight - it's still human cock-fighting if you ask me.

I kept one eye on the Nats game all night.  Livan may be just about done.  I think it was 9-2 when they finally pulled him.  If they can get anything for him, maybe they should deal him and let Stras take his place in the rotation next year.

Zim and Morse are still amazing.  Werth is still disappointing.  HRod is still hit or miss but I'm willing to give him more time to get his act together.  Desmond and Ramos had just utter failures with teh bases loaded tonight and that was the ball game.  Turrible.
