How about the K:BB?  How about 2B's and 3B's?  How about the fact that his career OBP is .338 which is only .030 higher than Bernadina?

I may not have gone to Cornell, but I can find an idiot in a crowd.  :lmao:

.030 is over 20 times on base more a year per 700 PA's.

Since 2009, Bourn's OBP is .349, which is close to 30 times on base more a year than Bernadina.

I already totally destroyed this thinking a few years ago.  There's a limited number of good, young prospects out there, so if you're trying to stockpile enough to fill up a good ML roster some day, you're playing a loser's game.

If a team offers you a solid MLB player for four prospects, each with a 1/5 chance of becoming just as good as that MLB player, you should take that MLB player, even if there's some very small chance of one of them becoming really good.

Someone offered the Nats an MLB player for 4 prospects? When was that?

He's had a good half.  Other than that, he's not that great.

I've seen his stats before and he'd be much better than anything we've had.

ONLY .030 higher?  Maybe you really are stupid.

That .030 is the difference between decent (Bourn) and bad (Bernadina).  League average is like .320.

Just think.  One extra time on base every five-six games.  That's HUGE.  Wow.  I'm impressed.

is it possible the Span deal didn't go down because of Span's health?

SIX wins now on the year. 20+ saves.

i know we argue about evaluating pitchers, but if wins isn't the best way to measure a pitchers' success, i dont know what is

I would think that's a huge factor in all of this. Out 2 months with a concussion is a huge red flag for me.

I understand what the stat people are saying, but I don't care about anything other than winning games and having players who win games.

Drew Storen wins games.

Drew Storen wins games.

That's probably the last thing you want the closer to do.

Actually, it's the first thing I want ANY player to do.

A closer that wins games means he's also constantly blowing leads and being bailed out by the offense.

I don't want that... and I assume you don't either.

Whatever, yo.  You're the only person who wouldn't recognize what a significant difference that is for OBP.

I would think that's a huge factor in all of this. Out 2 months with a concussion is a huge red flag for me.

Yeah, health is a really good reason not to do that trade.

Besides the fact that the Twins were trying to fleece us.

Why even have minor leagues then?

And note that prospects may in some cases have upside beyond the comparitor solid MLB player you like.

Yep, seems like they really wanted to stick it to us for the Ramos/Capps trade. I'm glad we didn't pull that trigger.

Clippard got a win in the ASB by giving up a hit to the only batter he faced.
How dare you devalue the almighty win statistic.
