I feel bad for Roger Bernadina.  He's played his heart out for us, especially while making some incredible hustle plays in CF, and the GM just hates him.  It's got to be tough for him to keep going up and down between D.C. and Syracuse.  After this season I hope he finds a team that actually wants him, and I really hope it's not in the NL East because the Shark is going to be a very good ballplayer.

Game over. Make the deal - Coffey and Burnett - yeah!

Make that happen ;)

(no chance it happens)

Do it!

At least football season is back to dull the pain of going .300'ish the remainder of the season.

Sucks like no other . Rizzo acquired no Major League pieces at the deadline. Awful
While I agree our front office is far below league par, Rizzo was handicapped by lousy seasons from Burnett, Desmond, and Coffey.  If those guys were doing even halfway decent, we could have moved them and probably landed a CF.  However, what we got back for Marquis was embarrassing and the Gomes trade was a head-scratcher.

Actually that's not a very controversial statement I made.  Even Rizzo's biggest supporters around here will likely admit that he clearly can't stand Bernadina.

Yes, but they would likely (and rightly) say that it's because Bernadina's not good at playing baseball, not because it's something personal.

You just naged about Storen now you're nagging about picking up no one?!?

Do you read your own post? Or do you just subject the rest of us to them.

I totally disagree with your assessment of the Marquis trade
The Nats were going to get no compensation if/when he walked...plus his career ERA in the 2nd half is average at best.

The Nats were not going to get much better for him, and had no other recourse but to take the best offer.

Following Olney, Heymen, Rosenthal and Morosi (and others) this week has been pretty much a waste of time and energy.

He was sent down because he was having a terrible July.  23 game, 96 PAs, 84 ABs.  Kudos for the BBs (10), but a .214 / .305 / .310 line with 5 XBH is not getting it done.  Anyone critical of the record under Davey Johnson has to acknowledge that Johnson's steadfast use of Roger at lead off and Roger's performance is a chunk of the reason for that record.  Johnson wanted to see if he could handle leadoff, and he could not.

Hairston was traded to Milwaukee.  Bernadina will likely be called up and play CF for the rest of the season.

No need for big moves, remember we're already in phase 2.

But Rizzo hates him, why would he call him up?

Even SF, the biggest Bernadina supporter stopped backing Bernie cause he sucked so much.

No need for big moves, remember we're already in phase 2.

phase 2 = grossly overrate our prospects, refuse to trade and improve a PATHETIC offense, and hire a bad manager?

if so I'm not sure I want to know what phase 3 is.

edit sorry for the negativity, glad we're keeping Storen but I can't take much more losing baseball... I want a change here.
