David DeJesus was just pulled in the third inning.
Another right fielder?

wtf happened to him? He's had a great career in KC but now in Oakland he's hitting .220ish with like a .310 OBP.

The Astros want to make up for what they didn't get for Pence by robbing us to get Bourn.

Quote
The Astros want Major-League ready prospects for Bourn, tweets MLB.com's Bill Ladson.  It makes sense that Wade would seek certainty here, with his Hunter Pence haul being of the high-risk, high-reward variety.

Hey Astros, WHY DIDN'T YOU HOLD OUT FOR MAJOR LEAGUE READY PLAYERS FOR PENCE???  >:(

He had season ending surgery last season, maybe he will never fully recover?

From mlbtraderumors:

9:22pm: The deal is "no closer than any other day," an MLB official told Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Please God, let this horrible idea die.

...and I'm not a prayer.  I'm agnostic...but I'm prayin' tonight!

So we traded Marquis for a minor leaguer, and Hairston for a minor leaguer, right?

Knowing absolutely nothing about it beyond that, my reaction = :?

Your boy Phil Wood was saying there was a Twins scout at the game. I think Wood said he talked to him and that the scout didn't think the potential deal was anything like what was getting reported.

Also, I'm amazed no one started dedicated threads about these trades...  I feel like someone should have...  casual readers aren't going to wade through these catch-all megathreads for breaking news.

It sucks in the short run but I think we did the best we could in the situation. Now we can see Peacock/Millone pitch sooner and we also got two pretty decent prospects out of it.

They're pretty solid minor leaguers. The Hairston deal was especially good for us. And we weren't going to get compensation for Marquis anyway, so this was a good deal.

If people don't like veterans on expiring contracts being traded for prospects then blame Marvin Miller.
