no brown, just wheeler.

make a move rizzo.

Seems like moves are coming fast now. I would bet Upton gets moved after the Beltran deal is finished. It is nice that GM's are working together to do one deal at a time so it all gets its proper time on Twitter.

Last push with Albert?

So why give away Rasmus if you think Albert is leaving?  Jackson isn't going to push them above the rest of the NL.

We can't force a trade. Only way that happens is if we give guys up for nothing.

Coffey and Marquis need to be moved for anything. Even for guys like we gave up in the Gomes deal. But waiting until the last minute is the only way to maximize it.

As far as getting a CF, if teams are asking for too much, there's not much we can do. There's no sense in overpaying just to make a trade.

I'd rather not make a move and keep Peacock, Hood, Ray, and Cole than offer one of them up for the guys that we're linked to.

Jackson is a lot better than Kyle McCellan and they didn't believe in Rasmus. Jackson might not even make their playoff roster but he could very well be the difference between overtaking the Brewers and Pirates and not. Can't win the World Series if don't make the play-offs.

Is there talk in here about Stark at ESPN saying the Nationals are in on Ubaldo?

Why can't it just be Monday and we all know everything that happened?

damn

Quote
The Reds are in. The Yankees and Red Sox are in. The Rangers, Tigers and Blue Jays are on this trail. An executive of one club involved in these talks says he was told that two National League teams, yet to be identified, are working on this deal, as well. Other clubs are conjecturing that one of them almost certainly is Washington.

So that tells us six to eight teams are actively talking to the Rockies, with four days left until the trading deadline. If you think they're all just checking in to get some tips on the best ski lodges in Aspen, better think again.

I honestly don't see what we'd have that they'd want.

strasburg
ubaldo
zimmermann

would be insane, but most of the farm would be gone.

Well, if Ubaldo can maintain success, and I'm not 100% convinced, you start trading the Destin Hoods and Norrises.

It would matter somewhat

And I don't see what. Our strength is first base. They have Todd Helton locked in to 2014

Detwiler and Peacock would satisfy the pitcher that could help now. Marrero as their future 1b. Ray, Cole, Solis, Norris, and Hood legit talents as well. Some combination of those guys would be attractive to them, definitely.

Just don't know if we should give up half the farm for Ubaldo. It would definitely make the staff sick, but limits some flexibility going forward in terms of organizational depth.

Would you rather have organizational depth or Strasburg, Jimenez, Zimmermann?

And if we're limited with pieces to trade, to account for injury, etc?

I'm talking about real players with MLB potential.

Certainly, I'd part with Peacock, Norris, Hood, and Cole. But if they want Ray and Solis as well? No dice. Trading that many pieces is tough to swallow.

I think you're vastly overrating our talent.

The Rockies want Montero, Manny Banuelos, Dellin Betances and Ian Nova. Clearly they're high, but Montero and either of the B-boys is heads and shoudlers better than any prospect we have.

I'm actually conflicted by this. I like Jimenez, but he is having a crummy season. His fastball is down 3 MPH. I have to wonder what the reason is. Is he injured? Possibly shoulder injury? Tommy John?

On the other hand, the guy's WHIP for his career away from Coors stadium is under 1

Why? Don't know what Ray and Solis are going to be. Already know what Ubaldo is. With strasburg, Ubaldo, and Zimmermann that is a good 1,2,3 that is controlable for years to come and by the time they are free agents or whatever then the farm system will be refilled.

Slateman are you accounting for the grade inflation for Yankees prospects?

Jimenez looked great against us (who doesn't, right?).  He was hitting 96 or 97 if I remember correctly.  He wasn't sitting there all night but he could hit that when he needed to.

I like Ubaldo but a 4.20 ERA this year and since his hot start last year he's got around a 4 ERA. Meh. Not worth giving up some of our best guys.

Not too keen on Ubaldo.

Look at his road splits. If we downgrade hitters' numbers for hitting in Coors have to upgrade pitchers' numbers.
