That's what I was thinking. Had Span been on the Twins roster, and playing this deal probably gets done.
I'm not sure what logic you "destroyed" once before, regarding how many prospects you need to compensate for a proven major leaguer. Or, as the case may be, two months of a proven major leaguer. The best path to prosperity for the Nats is going to be to develop a strong core of in-house talent - draft, develop and promote, and then augment with select free agent fill-ins.
Conventional wisdom bullsheet. Stan Kasten, izzat you?
we hope so but you know how this organization likes to call up AAAA players instead of prospects and just ride out the year
Serious question, no snark, have we totally given up on 2011 now?
oh, I don't know, they called up Desmond year before last, Espi last year. I think we'll see Lombo in September and I think we'll see Peacock and/or Millone before September -
I never had any playoff expectations anyway. I just want the team to continue to improve and show progress to keep me interested.
I had zero expectations for anything more than a 5 game improvement over 2011. At this point I'm concerned that might now even happen.
How was Coffey not moved?
How was Coffey not moved? Also - Hammer stayed in Oakland, for whatever that's worth.
We tried using a sandwich as bait, but he wouldn't buy it.
how exactly did he win the game today? by giving up the tying run?
I think there was a deal in place for Span then the Twins got greedy and upped the Anti.
He hasn't reformed, still anti-front office.
PANatsFan has infected the forum and people are liberally and irresponsibly throwing the "anti" label around freely.
At least I used "anti" correctly, unlike WPA
What if Span goes Morneau on the Twins? Will they be happy then?
I'm not going near that with a 10 foot pole.
Not even going to enter the antichamber?
More Rizzo: "The quality of players, the youth of players, the control of players, it wasn't enough in return for us to be satisfied."
