If we miss out on the guys I mentioned, certainly. I'd rather have Dontrelle on an inexpensive short-term deal than Edwin Jackson on an overpriced four-plus year deal.

Probably a better course to take. I'm inclined to say that Dontrelle will end up on one of the California teams anyway. I think he makes sense for Oakland.

I'm making all of my offseason thoughts and predictions under the assumption that Lannan gets dealt. I see him on Minnesota next year much more easily than I do the Nats.

The typical Rizzo off-season results in a losing season. Once you fail, you do not quibble over a few percentage points if it does not change the grade.

Let's not think about Plan B's or C's until we actually know what the market will be like. Hopefully we plan on acquiring a top tier starting pitcher, one of the mashing first basemen, a lead off guy, and/or a center fielder.

Comment-ors also noted that the exchange rate of USD to Yen has gone down significantly. 6 Billion Yen was 51 Mil. Would be 74 or so now... Who knows. I think he ends up staying.

Would like to know more about Oswalt's back injuries too, but he seems like the best bet. Doubt the Phillies would offer arbitration, since he would probably accept it (and it'd be over 16 million).

Maybe I'm overvaluing Lannan, but shouldn't he net more than Span in a trade? Span's concussion history is risky, but when(if) healthy, he'd fill the hole perfectly.

What about Kelly Johnson if Desmond is moved in a trade for a CF? Move Espinosa to SS, start Johnson at 2B and try to work in Lombo slowly to see if he can handle MLB pitching.

People didn't like the strikeouts last year. If the Nats add Kelly Johnson and LaRoche is back healthy the Nats could set the record.

Well they wouldn't give him up for Clippard, they were dead set on Storen/Lombo during the season. I mean looking at their starting pitching, Lannan would be really good for them but they think rather highly of Span. I'd be willing to give up Lannan and another prospect for him, but no way Clip or Storen.
