They get distracted easily but I liked starting off with what Rollins said.    After that, man they get lost.

TWO-HOUR show today, 10 AM-2 PM.
They're discussing spring training. Craig Heist from WTOP Radio is a call-in guest from spring training.  They said pitchers try things out in spring training that causes them to get hit hard.  [Strasburg said last year he tried to strike someone out with a fastball, who'd never see one in the regular season, and gave up a homer.]

Phil Wood trivia: until 1921, fans were required to return foul balls.  A fan was arrested in New York and [legislating from the bench]the judge ruled that the ball belonged to anyone, once it was out of play[/legislating from the bench].

They mentioned earlier about the possibility of Zim playing 3rd this evening.   ( 6 PM MASN  ...  8 PM MLB Network)

I've seen more professional HS TV productions.   I'm not talking about Mike and Phil either.    This is as low rent a production as you can paste together.

This show is perfect for the DVR. When they start talking about the 1950's Senator's infield or some other ancient baseball minutia, the FF button comes into play.

I like Mike Wallace. He knows his stuff and is a nice change of pace from the blow dried, big hair types on TV.

It's already begun.  Mike Wallace says that Haren really has until May or so to prove himself.

Ok, so what is Wallace's and Wood's history with baseball? Ex-players, just announcers?  First time tuning in.

I think Mike Wallace played back in the 1800s.

Seriously, Phil Wood is best described as a baseball historian.  We all make fun of him (a lot), but he's forgotten more about baseball than most of us will probably ever know.  He's probably THE expert on Washington baseball history.

Mike Wallace is a former relief pitcher.  He had a short career, playing for four teams back in the 1970s and going 11-3 in 117 games.

Today's Nationals game is on Fox at 3:00 pm.

Apparently Saul's call gets put on the air every single week.  Phil Wood noted that the visiting team does not get a "walk off" home run, something that eluded the director, producers and baseball consultant for the new Jackie Robinson film "42."

I went to see the movie last night and noticed that, as well.  Interestingly, even though Jackie Robinson supposedly hit a walk-off home run, there was another batter waiting to take his at bat as Jackie crossed home plate.
