I'm watching it.  He's definitely 'old school' and probably not into sabermetrics and such.

Earlier in the show, he mentioned possibly starting Tyler Moore in Syracuse to make sure he gets enough ABs.  Also said they're still looking for starting pitching depth and maybe a left handed relief pitcher.

Moore to Syracuse is the obvious move if they do sign ALR and the offers for Morse are unacceptable.   Morse gets his PAs as pinch hitter /sub for an OF or ALR and an occasional start.  Pencil him in as DH in the first half of the year when in AL ball parks and figure he can get 350 PAs.

We'd be loving that we have Morse if Laroche or any of the outfielders has a significant injury.  He definitely helps us, more a matter if he's happy in that role and if the Lerners want to pay a bench guy that much.

PhilWood says Morse doesn't want to be a DH.  Phil thinks we'll only get prospects for him.  Says Seattle IS interested, and that the Red Sox only want to give Napoli a one-year deal now.

EDIT: They have no idea how to produce this very low-budget show, which never has clips or players as guests, nor Kristina Akra.  They said "It's over" at 10:54 am, effectively telling the whole audience that there will now be 6 minutes of non-stop commercials.  The commercial breaks during the rest of the show are shorter than usual for cable TV.

MORSE himself has said he doesn't want to be a DH.  Seen it in a few places.

PhilWood said former Orioles manager Earl Weaver died this morning at the age of 82.  He said that, before he became the O's manager, Weaver had been sought to be part of the Senators' coaching or managing.

Did he say "Eddie Yost"?

Yes, Phil Wood has always signed off the airwaves with a simple, “Eddie Yost” (adios), to honor one of the great Washington Senators. Yost played the majority of his career as a third baseman for the Washington Senators, then played 2 seasons each with the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels before retiring in 1962. He was nicknamed the "Walking Man" for the numerous bases on balls he drew. Yost was considered one of the best lead off men and third basemen of his era.

        Eddie Yost, R.I.P.

The hosts speculated today that Danny Espinosa, who was sought by the Rays in the off season, could be on thin ice if he leads MLB in strikeouts again.  PhilWood pointed out that Espinosa struck out 34 more times than Frank Howard.

Had to do some errands today and ran into Phil and Mike when I got home talking about Zimmerman's shoulder.    Don't throw rocks but I'm enjoying the hell out of hearing the guys talk Nats' baseball.   We're gettin' close folks.    Can ya smell it?

I read pretty much anything I can get my hands on if it relates to the Nats.  And I still have a hard time watching these 2 for more than about 5 minutes.

I think it is the fact that the season is close.   Come May, I won't be watching.  :)   I too read/watch almost anything I can on the Nats.   It's one of the reasons I'm in here (WNFF) all the time.

The trouble with the show is lack of video. Could be much better. Filthy Angelos again.

They need a couple of new anchors, a brighter set (why can't they use the set Johnny and Ray use instead of the one that looks like Phil Wood's basement?), better and more graphics, video, and reports and interviews.  For example, MASN's got one of their web beat guys at ST - why couldn't they get a live report (even if it was by phone) from him?

Good point, actual reports from Florida would be the way to go..
