Carol Maloney just landed a full-time gig hosting middays on the new sports station on 630AM (formerly WMAL AM). This market can't support three crappy sports radio stations

I tried 630 the other day and couldn't get a grip on it.    I think they were doin' network programming.    I'm more of a fan of the local productions   ....   except for Ferrall.

It looks like they're mostly ESPN feed for now. The exceptions are that Bram Weinstein has a local afternoon show, Maloney's new mid-day show and Andy Pollin doing updates in the morning.

I listened to Pollin and Loverro but noticed Andy seemed to disappear.      A blurb in the paper about Pollin goin' to 630 got me to listen.

we keep politics out of the clubhouse.  Kind of a strict rule.  The original had a characterization of the station's politics. 

By the way, there's a running sort of explanation of how we moderate in the Suggestions and Requests portion of the board.

He's probably piecing together work at the end of his career (meaning, he's more or less my age, approaching retirement).

So I get back from my walk about and turn on Nats Talk.    The first caller I hear is "Jim from Silver Spring".     Jim opines that is gonna be a big part of the Nats' success against the Dodgers in the playoffs.     I almost fell off the couch.    Now Jim (IIRC) is also the husband of Susan who wrote the Nats fight song that's posted every once in awhile in WNFF.    When Jim or Susan call, there's usually an unsolicited commercial for that song/video.    I was thankful he didn't mention the song.     I can now go to the pool with only the thought of pitching in the playoffs.
