Sal from Leesburg called in to Phil Wood's Game 5 NL Division Series post game loss radio show. He talked about interviewing a famous golfer years ago, about not ever being able to win a big tournament. So he must be a former sports writer or broadcaster.

Two things from today:
They still love Espinosa.
Baltimore's show--Wall to Wall Baseball has four hosts as opposed to the Nats 2 hosts.

Just saw it on on DVR. Lots of talk about automatic balls and strikes after the WS game of last night. Seems like Phil is coming around to having robots and not dimwits calling strikes.

Turned on just in time to see Phil defending Danny. Comparing his strike outs to Kris Bryant. Unbelievable.

I've never put up lights because of the hassle but this year I just ordered one of those projectors.

That was actually a false comparison. He said that Bryant struck out 199 times this year when he actually struck out 154 times. He used last years stats. Now he is just lying to support his position.

This is the same Wood who while TMo was in the minors said he was a prototypical left hand power hitting 1st baseman ala Ted Kluszewski.

Thanks for looking that up.  It's sad when the experts get things wrong.  Also it was his general theme about how supposed baseball people can be so wrong about things.  How ironic.

Phil opens with wishing Kirk Douglas a Happy Birthday and mentioning he saw Sal at the winter meetings.    Oh yeah, there was a trade.    :)     Damn I miss baseball.

As an old Pirates fan, it reminded me of Bob Prince.    Pirates would have the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and "The Gunner" would be wishing Sadie in Monroeville a happy 81st birthday.

Phil Wood said that they receive a lot more emails than telephone calls. You should be able to call in and get on the air.

Due to today's ice storm, Mike Wallace did not drive 113 miles from Virginia, and has called in by telephone. Phil Wood said that he lives 13 miles away.

Orioles' analyst Tom Davis came to the MASN studio at 2:00 am and slept in a chair. That's why he joined the broadcast.

Surprised Phil had the energy to come to work after Danny got traded...figured he'd need a safe space...

Today, Saturday January 14, 2017, the show is only one hour, until 11 am, so MASN can air college basketball at noon: Austin Peay State at Eastern Illinois.

Austin Peay State is Phil Wood's alma mater, and he'll be on a sabbatical for several weeks to teach a course there, as he did last year.
