Remember when FP said he wouldn't be a cheerleader for the Nats?

He's really just a big softy on the inside.

Since losing 8 of 9 to the blO's, Phillies, Padres and Brewers, the Nats have gone 16-7!

All told, though, the line between a Nats sweep and a Mariners sweep was razor thin in this series.

True, but it's still dumb to say "that shouldn't count."

It was a whisk broom sweep.

Sure, I'm just saying, a miracle rally and two one run games and it could have just as easily been a sweep in the other direction.  It didn't work out that way and I'm thrilled with that, but it's amazing just how small the line between victory and defeat can be sometimes.

We averted a possible season meltdown of epic proportions by winning game 1.  That was the type of game that sends a team on a long skid.  Fortunately for us, we got by.  The Mariners, not so lucky.

Is this the first time we've been above .500 this late into the season since 2005?

That game 1 was what this team needed.  They needed to struggle and fight to win and they did just that.
