Did you escape without being covered with partially-digested cheesesteaks?

Oh yeah, left early to get the birthday celebration rolling.  Surprisingly all of the Philly fans I encountered were civil, which was good since the W lot was taken over by Phillies fans and tour buses.

Guys and gals... it's all good.

Sammy Solis is having a good first start in Hagerstown. 3IP, 1H, 0R, 6K

We can look forward to seeing him in 2014!

Nice fearsome threesome coming up in the ninth-Cora, Desmond, and Ankiel.  Pathetic

Serious question, how did the Phillies build a winner?

Do we put up a fight here or do we die quietly and without a struggle?  :?

frankly, I wasnt concerned about the phils possibly scoring that tack on run, because, even though I dont think the phils pen is lights out, I just have no confidence in our offense getting a run here.

After 10,000 losses anything is possible.

Serious question, how did the Phillies build a winner?

Drafting.

Rollins, Howard, Utley, Victorino, Ruiz, Hamels... add to that ownership willing to spend, and a GM that is willing to make big time trades, and you get a winner.

Of course, in a few years they'll be screwed with top heavy contracts... but I'll take the success they're having now to deal with the losing in the future.

Another team jump started by facing off against the Nats.

I like how Carp is trying to jinx Madson, but it ain't gonna work with Desmond at bat.

Thanks, the only Phillies teams I've taken notice of are the decent ones before I got out of baseball (i.e. 1993) and the current team when I got back into it (2006-current).
