Josh Palacios has been a nice find for us so far: .309   .415   .979 with 4 homers and 5 stolen bases so far playing CF at Rochester.
When the Cruz experiment ends, we have a few guys in the system I want to see in DC for some ABs.

Some non-prospect ML signings:
- Corey Abbot claimed from SF off of waivers, sent to Rochester - https://www.mlb.com/player/cory-abbott-676265
- Franklin Kilome signed to a minor league free agent deal, also heading to Rochester - https://www.mlb.com/player/franklyn-kilome-642584

Kilome was traded to the Mets most recently for Asdrubal Cabrera (in 2018)

A collection of injury updates from Zuck:
Quote
You’ll see each starting pitcher will be skipped throughout the season; usually at the 10-start mark we try to skip a start or push a start back,” Rizzo said. “That’s the situation with Cavalli, (Rodney) Theophile, (Cole) Irvin and those guys. They’ll get pushed back a start or two, just to give them a blow. No physical abnormalities there (with Cavalli). And with Cole Henry, because of his injury history, we’re being extremely careful with him. He’ll be no-throw for about a week, and then we’ll ramp him back up.”

* Top infield prospect Brady House, meanwhile, was placed on the minor league IL with back soreness. House, last year’s first round pick, hasn’t played for Single-A Fredericksburg since June 11.

Rizzo said the 19-year-old shortstop will be shut down for 7-10 days, “and then we’ll ramp him back up to playing again.”

Collection of updates on Blue Rocks

• The Nationals’ High-A Blue Rocks’ best hitter right now is probably Omar Meregildo, a thick-bodied first baseman who has some real power, but he’s repeating the level and is 24 years old, way too old for A-ball. Among their pitchers, Seth Shuman — part of the deal that sent Yan Gomes and Josh Harrison to Oakland last July — showed a fastball that missed a lot of bats up top of the zone even at 91-92, but his four walks in five innings were his highest single-game total of the year. He doesn’t have a plus pitch, so if his command is there, he could be a swingman. Reliever Jose Ferrer, a left-hander making his full-season debut this year, was 94-95, bumping 98 once, with a very hard slider at 86-91. He was erratic but didn’t allow a baserunner in two innings. Reliever prospects are imaginary creatures but he’s got a chance.

Meregildo was at high-A back when it was the P-Nats (2019).  I don't really get it.  He's a bat-only guy who is a good enough hitter to get a decent shot at AA and let him sink or swim.  Instead they gave him 5 games and punted him back to A+ as an org dude.

Some news from TalkNats:

Quote
Multiple sources on the Twitters are stating that Jeremy De La Rosa will be the first (age-appropriate-to-the-level) position player to be promoted this season. Dustin Saenz is also reported to be on the move to High-A, with Tim Cate making his way back to AA. Meanwhile, Brady House’s return, which had been scheduled for later this month, will likely be delayed until mid-August. House has reportedly been rehabbing a back injury in West Palm Beach, according to Joey LaMonaco of the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.

Some news from TalkNats:

For perspective, most organizations already did promotions several weeks ago - for example, just look at the minor league transactions page for June 28 (date picked at semi-random).  There are wave promotions from like 5 different organizations just on that day.

Andrew Alvarez promoted to High-A, 2021 12th round draft pick. Strikes out a lot of people but has been mediocre overall

Emiliani looks like he had a short, nice stint his second time in rookie ball as a 19 year old in 2019, but really didn't show much last year.  Now he's a little old for his level.

Eric Longerhagen:
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-22-prospects-washington-nationals-2/
Per BA, he was signed 7/5/17.  No info on his bonus.  Columbian.

FWIW, he ranked #32 on this guy's top 50 in the Nats system going into 2021.  Fro perspective, he ranked between Noll at #31 and Read at #33.   That tier of players he viewed as "Tier 4: Players who have the potential of making the majors, or have a high likelihood of making the majors but providing minimal impact (e.g., middle reliever, low-ceiling UT guys)."
https://www.prospects1500.com/nl-east/nationals/washington-nationals-2021-top-50-prospects/
Looks like he has played mostly 1B with few games in left as an 18 year old.
https://www.thebaseballcube.com/page.asp?PT=player&ID=216254

Off of his transaction history, it looks like last year was mostly wasted due to injuries after a late start, maybe due to a "testing" issue - "ABS"?  Doesn't seem long enough for drugs, so I'm guessing that was COVID?

IF John Nogowski reassigned from Harrisburg to Rochester. Nats also signed FA RHP Connor Sadzeck and assigned him to Rochester

I thought him and the Nats came to an agreement? 6.5M signing just a tad over slot value?

EDIT: I don't think MLB updated the rankings with 2022 draftees.

Correct, Green signed.  I think our 20th pick was the only one not to sign.

I saw Francisco Perez pitch last night, relieving Cavalli for two innings. Seemed to overpower the Columbus Clippers: 2 innings, no hits, 4 K's, 0 runs.

Don't think we have anything on him as a prospect. He flopped earlier this season with the Nats, but doing well with the Redwings: 27 games, 29 innings, 21 hits, 43 strikeouts, 12 walks. He overwhelmed Columbus last night, looking better than Cavalli. Still only 24.

Fangraphs has him as our #24 prospect (before the trade) and rates him pretty favorably.

Fastball   Slider   Changeup   Command   FV
55 / 55   50 / 50   45 / 50   50 / 55   35+

I was expecting him to be part of our bullpen after we traded a bunch of our bullpen this deadline, but I guess that's not happening..

Wasn’t he already there for a few seasons with the Cards?  How did we get him?

Correct, he navigated into a storm though, splitting time as a starter and reliever, first year 2.73 ERA, last year 6.21. Maybe he found the fountain of youth in Rochester?
