Josh Palacios has been a nice find for us so far: .309   .415   .979 with 4 homers and 5 stolen bases so far playing CF at Rochester.

When the Cruz experiment ends, we have a few guys in the system I want to see in DC for some ABs.

You’ll see each starting pitcher will be skipped throughout the season; usually at the 10-start mark we try to skip a start or push a start back,” Rizzo said. “That’s the situation with Cavalli, (Rodney) Theophile, (Cole) Irvin and those guys. Rizzo said the 19-year-old shortstop will be shut down for 7-10 days, “and then we’ll ramp him back up to playing again.”

• The Nationals’ High-A Blue Rocks’ best hitter right now is probably Omar Meregildo, a thick-bodied first baseman who has some real power, but he’s repeating the level and is 24 years old, way too old for A-ball. Among their pitchers, Seth Shuman — part of the deal that sent Yan Gomes and Josh Harrison to Oakland last July — showed a fastball that missed a lot of bats up top of the zone even at 91-92, but his four walks in five innings were his highest single-game total of the year. He doesn’t have a plus pitch, so if his command is there, he could be a swingman. Reliever Jose Ferrer, a left-hander making his full-season debut this year, was 94-95, bumping 98 once, with a very hard slider at 86-91. He was erratic but didn’t allow a baserunner in two innings. Reliever prospects are imaginary creatures but he’s got a chance.

Meregildo was at high-A back when it was the P-Nats (2019).  I don't really get it.  He's a bat-only guy who is a good enough hitter to get a decent shot at AA and let him sink or swim.  Instead they gave him 5 games and punted him back to A+ as an org dude.

Multiple sources on the Twitters are stating that Jeremy De La Rosa will be the first (age-appropriate-to-the-level) position player to be promoted this season. Dustin Saenz is also reported to be on the move to High-A, with Tim Cate making his way back to AA. Meanwhile, Brady House’s return, which had been scheduled for later this month, will likely be delayed until mid-August. House has reportedly been rehabbing a back injury in West Palm Beach, according to Joey LaMonaco of the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.

Emiliani looks like he had a short, nice stint his second time in rookie ball as a 19 year old in 2019, but really didn't show much last year.  Now he's a little old for his level.

Per BA, he was signed 7/5/17.  No info on his bonus.  Columbian.

FWIW, he ranked #32 on this guy's top 50 in the Nats system going into 2021.  Fro perspective, he ranked between Noll at #31 and Read at #33.   That tier of players he viewed as "Tier 4: Players who have the potential of making the majors, or have a high likelihood of making the majors but providing minimal impact (e.g., middle reliever, low-ceiling UT guys)."

Off of his transaction history, it looks like last year was mostly wasted due to injuries after a late start, maybe due to a "testing" issue - "ABS"?  Doesn't seem long enough for drugs, so I'm guessing that was COVID?

I saw Francisco Perez pitch last night, relieving Cavalli for two innings. Seemed to overpower the Columbus Clippers: 2 innings, no hits, 4 K's, 0 runs.

Don't think we have anything on him as a prospect. He flopped earlier this season with the Nats, but doing well with the Redwings: 27 games, 29 innings, 21 hits, 43 strikeouts, 12 walks. He overwhelmed Columbus last night, looking better than Cavalli. Still only 24.

Fangraphs has him as our #24 prospect (before the trade) and rates him pretty favorably.

Correct, he navigated into a storm though, splitting time as a starter and reliever, first year 2.73 ERA, last year 6.21. Maybe he found the fountain of youth in Rochester?
