what's it say about our base running and defense that the baserunner and defensive players of the year only played < 2 months in our system?

Destin Hood?  Did he come back to baseball?

McGowin is going to get an MLB contract out of someone.

I missed it, but Hood signed a minor league contract in May, it doesn't look like he ever played anywhere.

Bacus should catch on somewhere too, he was decent in Rochester last year.

TJ White article that can be moved or copied into his thread when it is set up.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/01/09/tj-white-nationals-prospect/

Quote
Of their first 10 selections, seven were position players, four were outfielders and three of the top five were teenagers, plucked straight out of high school to join the start of a rebuild.

And within each of those groups was T.J. White, the switch-hitting corner outfielder from South Carolina. A fifth-round pick and recent Dorman High School grad, White had just turned 18 when he reported to West Palm Beach, Fla., in August. For the Nationals, it was settling to watch him and Brady House (shortstop, first round) produce right away in the Florida Complex League, with White posting a batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage slash line of .283/.356/.547 in 59 plate appearances. House, not to be outdone, slashed .322./394/.576, tying White with four homers in his 66 plate appearances.

Daylen Lile, an outfielder and their second-round choice, also flashed his potential and patience at the plate. The hope is that, in time, House, Lile and White either take off or fill the cracks of a system trying to claw toward average before setting its sights on good. Reflecting on the rush of professional experience, White pointed to House and Lile as a support system, his best friends and the healthy competition that pushes him, all in one.
...
“One thing that always stood out with T.J. is that he and his family wanted the honest truth of what he needed to fix to get better,” [high school coach] Jolly said. “We told him to gain some speed and work on his footwork in the outfield, and what happened? He checked both boxes. Because them asking us for tips and feedback was genuine. They really wanted to hear it because he had big goals.”

It's only 15 ABs, but this 1B guy is tearing up Low-A right now - https://www.milb.com/player/leandro-emiliani-678247
.400BA / 1.404 OPS. Hit two doubles and a 2-run HR last night.

Anyone ever hear of him?

Emiliani looks like he had a short, nice stint his second time in rookie ball as a 19 year old in 2019, but really didn't show much last year.  Now he's a little old for his level.

Young potential Helium types
We’ll try to plow through these pretty quickly, as this system has more of this tier of prospect than most clubs. ...
[Justin] Connell and Emiliani are bat-to-ball 1B/LF sorts; they have promising contact skills but probably need to end up with premium hit tools to profile.

Per BA, he was signed 7/5/17.  No info on his bonus.  Columbian.

FWIW, he ranked #32 on this guy's top 50 in the Nats system going into 2021.  Fro perspective, he ranked between Noll at #31 and Read at #33.   That tier of players he viewed as "Tier 4: Players who have the potential of making the majors, or have a high likelihood of making the majors but providing minimal impact (e.g., middle reliever, low-ceiling UT guys)."

Another player I’m watching closely as 2021 will be his first full season. Like most young players, his strikeout numbers were high, but the power potential is there.

Looks like he has played mostly 1B with few games in left as an 18 year old.

Off of his transaction history, it looks like last year was mostly wasted due to injuries after a late start, maybe due to a "testing" issue - "ABS"?  Doesn't seem long enough for drugs, so I'm guessing that was COVID?

Non-prospect.

1)  And for perspective, one of the guys right above him (Aldrem Corredor) is also a 1B/LF type who they let go to MiLB FA last winter.

2)  ABS is indeed COVID - that's an abbreviation for an antibody test.

Hit a grand slam last night. Start the thread. He is a couple hot weeks from I think them calling him up due to his age and Branden Boissiere probably being the guy they want to give every day ABs as a high draft pick.

Not really a prospect as he's 29, but Joey Meneses is off to a hot start at Rochester: .305 / .364 / .856

Last night: 2-4, 2 HRs, 3 RBIs

Looking at his history, he seems like a Jake Noll-type who has played well at AAA but can't get called up:

Josh Palacios has been a nice find for us so far: .309   .415   .979 with 4 homers and 5 stolen bases so far playing CF at Rochester.
