Eh.

Detwiler has 4 walks and 3 K's.

I don't trust him. Never will.

Ross is done for the night:  6.2IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 4BB, 3SO, 0HR  His season ERA is down to 4.71.

Good but his last batter was the opposing pitcher and he walked him. Bad...but he was swearing at himself like a sailor as he was walking to the dugout.  Good.

Lee Hyde replaced Detwiler.  I don't get this.  They have a chance to win this game and Hyde is terrible.

Hyde walks the first batter he faces.

Why so much angst about who is or isn't going to sign at this point?

Ever since they failed to sign Crow, the trust is limited.

Hyde gives up an RBI-single.  Game tied 2-2.

And Hyde is out of the game, retiring no one.

Hyde is supposed to be a lefty specialist and he faced two lefties and they both got on base.

Chiefs give up 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th.  Now losing 2-6.  Pena's ERA is up to 16.71

Where does this organization find such terrible pitchers?  It's an endless supply!

Tatusko comes in and he gives up a double and the two runners he inherited from Pena score so Pena's ERA is now 19.29.

It's certainly Black Monday for him.

Nieto 5/9 with a Double and 2 HRs so far in the first two games with Auburn.

He only had 2 Career HRs in 333 Minor League ABs prior to this season.

I thought he was off the juice now? :lmao: He should be playing in Potomac.

They slotted him in Auburn because of the suspension, duh.

I'd imagine that this is Nieto's spring training. Would not surprise me to see him moved after a few more weeks of game action

I didn't realize you could bring kids under 18 stateside... but the GCL Nats have a catcher, Pedro Severino, who's 17 till July 20.

So far he's 1-2.

Must think pretty highly of him... no stats on him from the DSL or anything, signed him and brought him straight to the GCL.

Nieto needs to be wherever he's going to play every day. For a highly touted HS kid he's been promoted strangely. He was up in Hagerstown last year to be a back up. Now he's playing every day in short season.
Hopefully Freitas can get a bump to Potomac, and Nieto can take the every day gig at Hagerstown.

agreed.

Freitas will be up in A+ sometime soon, Nieto will take over the Hagerstown duties.  Norris should stay in AA for a bit longer than I can see him going up to AAA (wonder if we'll make a move for Flores soon).

See, that's why players need time to mature in the minors. Lombo needs to learn that leadoff doubles don't score.
