Valium
« Topic Start: January 20, 2011, 02:02:12 PM »
I'm getting a closed MRI Saturday morning. I'm pretty claustrophic, so I've been given a prescription for valium. Does anyone know long it takes to "sober up" from a 5-10 mg dose? The MRI is at 10:00 and I have a concert to attend at 5:00. I'm not driving, just need to be able to walk and not drool. I'd personally prefer several high-octane brewskis, but suspect barfing in the tube would be frowned upon. :spaz:

You should be fine...that's not a huge amount of dope if it's a single dose, and it wears off pretty quickly.

Thanks--all of the websites Dr. Google could summon were aimed at addicts and people who are drug-tested at work.

in all seriousness you should probably just ask the prescribing doctor or the pharmacist who gives it to you

Should not be a problem. The Mozart may sound a little like Little Feat, though.   :D

You want to sober up for a concert? I'd take the opposite tack, maybe ask around and see if you can get more. Drooling is not frowned upon at most concert locations. And being able to walk is optional (some say less than optimal).

Obviously it depends on your body. I know people who become incoherent if they are prescribed a single percocet. And others who can take a whole lot heavier stuff and it not even phase them. All in all, Valium shouldn't knock you for too much of a loop unless your body just can't handle it.

It's actually classic rock covers. A friend of ours just started a band and we're going out for moral support. Proceeds benefit Haitian relief effort, so if you're in Vienna or environs, you might want to check them out.

I actually did ask my doctor and he was pretty open-ended about dosage and effects. He only said that most of his patients seem to like it.

Looks like I maaade it...! Went home and slept for 4 hours. Only some residual grogginess, not unlike after a normal afernoon nap. (I know...borrrring!) I''m not sure why some consider valium recreational--guess I'm a beer girl at heart!

I'm not sure that it is so much "recreational" as "Mama's little helper" for a lot of folks...but glad it worked out!  Those MRI tubes are evil.

Is there a name for that? I mean, beside "felonious"? Not bad... shake it and serve it as a Felonious Fizz.
