@MasnBen
Werth on Phillies: "They're going to make their plays, and we're going to make ours. Over time, people will see the Nationals are for real."

How much does Werth know about the front office's planned "plays"? I continue to think that Scott Boras has gotten the management to pick out a couple more good Boras guys for the team.

I'm sure one of us here could fill him in on the past 4 years. It'll only take a couple minutes.

Once again, peeps... just shooting the crap.

I'm not angry with him because he's saying the right things... I just think it'd be hilarious if an athlete, Werth, Crawford, whomever... just came out and said... I'm here for the money.
I like his competitive fire. When asked about Lee, he responsed, "That's fine. They signed their boy, I guess. If you are going to be the best, your have to beat the best."  That's a world-class quote right there. No cliche.

I think Linty was probably shocked that he didn't say, "Gee, now they signed Cliff, I think we are going to go 0-18 again them."

He's pissed the Phillies didn't give him the deal he thinks he deserved. In other words, he hates them like we do. I LOVE THIS GUY.

"They got their boy back" "that's fine, that's fine, that's fine".

He almost went Derek Anderson style there.
He wasn't mad at the question. He's mad at the Phillies. Big difference.

Why would I think Werth would say the Nats are going 0-18 against the Phillies this year?

I'm usually overly optimistic when it comes to the Nats chances... it appears my attempts at dark humor have gone over well, lately.

Again, this is a man who wants to be in DC if he took a full no-trade. No easy way out, he wants the victory parade to the Mall. God, wouldn't that be beautiful?

I hope Werth was honest about wanting to make the Nats into a winner. I would much rather have a player that wants to make a team a winner than to go to a winner.

I think I was right about him being the franchise guy you buy your kid the jersey of since he won't be going anywhere.

Zimmerman, Strasburg, Werth, maybe Harper.  Plenty to choose from.

Which is a lot better than Zimmerman, Livan, Guzman.

My notes from the presser:

- It looked a little bizzare to see him in a Nats uni.  But I dig it.

- He said there were a million things that went into him signing here.  My first thought was: "yeah, 126 million things..."

- I loved his first quote about the Lee signing: "I didn't hear, what happened?"

- He said "people don't realize" or "one thing people don't realize" a lot.

There were a few other things, but I can't  think of them right now...

Great day for the Nats, no doubt.
Miss the beard though...

enough with the phase two talk.  it sounds minor leagues.
this sounds vaguely like Nixon's anti-inflation strategy in 1971 or so.  Phase 1 - price freeze.  Phase 2 - some sort of price monitoring board overseeing all aspects of the economy.*  Phase 3 I think was bombing Cambodia.  I think the comparables for the Nats would be: Phase 1 - lousy FAs, toolsy OFs, and a few high draft choices that we sign.  Phase 2 - Sign Werth.  Phase 3 - Poop in CBP.  Looking forward to Phase 3.

* That was back when we knew the meaning of socialist big government.  None of this wussy-footin' unconstitutional mandates!

Apparently Ruben and others bashed Werth in Lee's presser.

My hate continues to rise to a level I didn't think possible for all things Phillies.

That's totally uncalled for. Lee shouldn't hate just because he forgot how to count.

Apparently Werth was upset that he and Cliff aren't on the same team. Must be good buds.

Did Cliff Lee bail on signing with the #Nats? He said he and Jayson Werth planned on being on the same team. http://sbn.to/e5arMx

PA will love this.

Werth has a full no trade clause.

:lmao:  That was an excuse some people used to excuse (cheapness) not signing certain players.
