Every single move Rizzo has made this year has backfired.

Signing Rosenthal and trading for Barraclough.

Anibal Sanchez instead of Tanner Roark. Although we got Tanner Rainey out of the deal but he is inconsistent.

Dozier instead of LeMathieu.

Keeping Michael Taylor over Brian Goodwin who is raking.

Trading Lucas Giolito for Adam Eaton.

Releasing Trevor Gott, Brandon Kintzler, Shawn Kelly, Yusmerio Petit and Craig Stammen.

Not resigning Greg Holland.

Trading away Blake Treinen and Felipe Vasquez.

He lucked into signing Scherzer and drafting Harper, Strasburg and Rendon. Found Soto and Robles and the TreaTurner trade has looked good but that's literally it in his stay here as a GM.
the Matt Capps for Ramos trade. was the biggest coup not Turner.
Also Trienen has been crap for the A's this year

He's the best catcher we've ever had! Even better than our Ring of Honor guy Pudge. Retire his number!

I will reserve judgement on Adams for a bit.  Relievers are a fickle bunch prone to highs and lows.

my first thought was that they would go after Rizzo if they did not go internal / alumni

Rizzo's scouting strikes again. No one could believe Patrick Corbin would be good this year, but Rizzo nonetheless trusted his gut.

Who is no one?

Also good scouting would have led him to signing Morton/Lynn at a fraction of the cost. This is like saying, Rizzo's scouting strikes again for signing Scherzer.

Fans can pick and choose this deal was good, this deal was bad, but the bottom line is the Nats have gone to the playoffs 5 out of 8 years. You can't do that without a good GM. Look at the Phillies and Mets. Would you rather have those GMs.

Sure would be great if this team had added meaningful bullpen pieces and a bat at the deadline. But hey, at least they're under the tax

Oh wait

Yep. We only score run but it’s the bullpen’s fault...

When was the last time this team hit well in the playoffs?

This team needed a big bat in the worst way. Rizzo traded for Hunter Strickland instead.

He had Howie in reserve.       :mg:

Gotta congratulate Rizzo on this one:
- Corbin signing was huge
- Sanchez signing was huge
- Trading for Hudson was huge
- Hanging onto to MAT when it looked like he was a DFA candidate
- Picking up Cabrera and Parra off the scrap heap

Not every move works out, but the ones that did are key reasons why we're in the NLCS.

Now give Tony his money.

Trading McKenzie Mills (1-8, 5.36 ERA in AA this season) for Howie Kendrick.

Rizzo has by and large done an excellent job.  Last night didn't validate him and it shouldn't have sealed his fate as a failure either if we had lost.  He's put together teams good enough to compete to make and advance in the playoffs.  It's up to the players to make the big hit, big pitch, etc.  They aren't being asked to play over their heads.  In the past, they simply didn't play to their abilities in the postseason as a whole.  This postseason they have.

I just cannot understand being a fan of this team and wanting Rizzo gone? I’ve heard it for a few years and it still makes no sense to me at all?

Truth is a lot of the frustration was the cruddy bullpen.

Those are from the fans who leave early from Nats games lol. They only come aboard when they make the playoffs.
