No. He was a 4-6 WAR player before the injuries.

So he was good, just not here? Right awesome trade

He was good here, until he had a career altering injury. Again, how is Rizzo (or anyone) supposed to predict that?

It seems that most guys who were lights out for another team then come here suck. (Not including Scherzer)

Bases loaded for Eaton. Flys out.

Should have kept Giolito.

Something about trading our prospects for quick fixes that never turn out then watching our young guys have success elsewhere.

Something about evaluating based on actual outcomes

OKay, so tell me what those teams got out of those trades

San Fransisco isn't making the playoffs this season.
The Cubs pen was such a problem they just dropped 43 million on a Kimbrel
The Rangers are garbage
The Pirates have finished no higher than 3rd in their division
Blake Treinen has reverted back to the form he had here and is saved only by the fact that Oakland is the second most pitcher friendly park in baseball

Cool, how long is it fair wait before expecting a run in the playoffs?

I thought we were evaluating based on outcomes, not expectations.

In that case, how long can the team go without a deep playoff run before the GM goes?

Don't know. Not sure why you want to push this. Do you think the Lerners are going to hire someone better or that they'll give more control to if they fire Rizzo.

I don't. I think Rizzo is the best you're going to get until the Lerners sell the team, or until the next generation takes over.

That Rosenthal is still on this team is an indictment

It's really amazing how much one player, with so little playing time, has had such a catastrohpic influence on this season.

Every single move Rizzo has made this year has backfired.

Signing Rosenthal and trading for Barraclough.

Anibal Sanchez instead of Tanner Roark. Although we got Tanner Rainey out of the deal but he is inconsistent.

Dozier instead of LeMathieu.

Keeping Michael Taylor over Brian Goodwin who is raking.

Trading Lucas Giolito for Adam Eaton.

Releasing Trevor Gott, Brandon Kintzler, Shawn Kelly, Yusmerio Petit and Craig Stammen.

Not resigning Greg Holland.

Trading away Blake Treinen and Felipe Vasquez.

He lucked into signing Scherzer and drafting Harper, Strasburg and Rendon. Found Soto and Robles and the TreaTurner trade has looked good but that's literally it in his stay here as a GM.

Rosenthal is a failure. Barraclough is almost certainly one.

But maybe you can’t possibly make judgements on the Dozier and Sanchez moves, especially given how they have played over the past month.

And let’s give Gott and Giolito more than half a season of being good before announcing those moves as bad.

And did Rizzo “luck into” Scherzer?

I fault Rizzo for not assembling even a serviceable bullpen. But we can’t say every move he’s made is bad.

Blake Treinen just got placed on the DL and has a 4.08 ERA this year.

Also Anibal has been fine.

Tanner and DJ have been better. If Roark were willing to put in the offseason work, he'd still be here.

I never liked the Dozier signing.

Two of the best Nats over the last 30 games are Dozier and Eaton.

Want WNFF to be wrong? Wait a month. I miss when SSS would shut down half the early season nonsense
