hindsight is always 20/20. I think most GMs would do that deal 99 times out of a 100.
GMs are paid a lot of money to make better decisions than people at home. We have no way of knowing how other GMs viewed Eaton because none of them actually traded for him (unless you want to infer that no GM was as off on their valuation as rizzo because they didn’t pay for him).
